I’m thinking of the great stages of human progress which also resulted in significant losses to religion; Galileo’s discoveries and of course Darwin’s theory. What could be the next one?

The other discoveries you missed out are: DNA - which gives the pattern of evolution over a billion years; The discovery that many of the higher order apes have the ability to form language; That - on average - there is only 10% difference between male and female skills (accept for reproduction); that we are all born bisexual and develop to be hetro or homo; That 2+2=4 (in the deanery system of maths; etc etc etc.

As to the next big discovery - well I would be a multi-millionaire if i could predict that.

Connecting spirituality to variability in the structure and biochemistry of the human brain.

That species evolved over time was a well known fact before Darwin (whose theory provided a mechanism to explain the way it worked).

The proof did not come later – there is nothing more inductive than Darwin’s work.

Don’t you feel at all guilty acting like you know something about this when the truth is that you are scientifically illiterate? Is lying a recognized and accepted part of your faith?

Galileo was a Christian and mocked by both non and Christian...

Their are no more potential discoveries that will encounter religious opposition and none that have considering evolution is not a discovering it is a theory based on funny looking birds

I think it's the other way around. Honest Scientists know that the integrated complexity in DNA or the living cell could not have accidentally positioned it's structure into place.

Darwin's theory has no ground to even be discussed. He came up with the idea of evolution then had to create proof of it. We would be tripping over 'missing links' if the 'theory' was factual.

the recognition that the Church and State should actually be separated. They've talked about it for decades, but once it actually happens, i think there will be another religious reformation when they realize that they don't control the world anymore
