Are ten points worth more than writing the truth?
Is Ethics moot on Answers?

This is just me, but for me the true answer is more important than the answer the questioner wants.

If I posted only answers that are wanted, then I would not be at 11 per cent best answers and on level 6 I would be well into level 7 with 40 per cent or better best answers.

I laugh when I read yahoo advertising this Y/A forum and it makes it appear that best answers are chosen because they are correct and right on, but far from it especially here in the R&S section.

Too many people post a question already with their mind made up as tho what kind of answer they are looking for.

In the real world people lie so they won't get fired or so they'll get elected or so they'll get laid or to avoid richly deserved punishment or even sometimes to not hurt someone's feelings but what possible benefit could anyone gain from lying on YA? This seems like one rare situation where it's safe to tell the truth all the time. Okay maybe there are govt. spies observing but as far as I know no one has been busted for giving away state secrets on YA. And points? What are points? You can't even save them up to buy stuff like our ancestors used to do with Bue Chip stamps. I don't think it's as much a question of ethics as a rare opportunity to speak freely. Go for it.
BTW I'm sure you wanted me to say that you should do whatever you have to to get the points but I didn't say it because I am too honest and ethical.

The true answer is the best way to go. When we ask a question that has two possible answers, the truth and what we what to hear, we know that by purposing the question we want the truth but sometimes the truth may hurt. If we didn't want the truth, we wouldn't ask I guess. I always give the true answer and I have mad people mad before but they usually get over it and thank me in the end.

Perhaps it is a Moot point.
My truth is merely my perspective on any given situation.

I try not to assume what answer the questioner wants.....I simply answer the question in my own words.

I usually write both. I'll tell them the answer I know they want to hear, and then I'll tell them the other side of it (the right answer). I don't always get chosen, but at least I'm making someone partially happy and still being ethical.

And it harm none. I must speak the truth. A little sugar coating on occasion never hurt. I post answers to help shed light on things for the asker, always to the best of my knowledge and intuition. The silly questions and silly answers aside of course...those are just for fun.

I would give the true answer not the answer the questioner wants to hear. I think being honest is better than being a suck-up for ten points.

It depends on the question...

I usually answer both, with the truth and with something funny to soften the punch...

I generally go with ethics, I will pick questions that don't have real questions and be silly....

I always go for the truth. Do people really care about the points?

Write the truth.
Or something that amuses you.

Or best yet... the truth in a way that amuses you.

That's what I often do.
