By the Way if you're going to answer the question read the article of at least look at the poll at the bottom of the page. Don't just look at the title & say "ah ha!"

I read the article and the results of the poll regarding illegal immigrants and US citizenship. I'd have voted with the group that said illegal immigrants could stay in the country and apply for citizenship even if they don't pay back taxes. Face it folks. They are already here and a bunch more are coming in daily. The tide will turn when Mexico becomes a more desirable place to live then the USA. Dream on!

Star for you, I read the article very interesting, I agree 100% a new law must be written and it should come with some highlights.
1-end birthright citizenship.
2-buil a wall
3-enforcement real and true enforcement
4-probationary visa to those who are here of course pay back taxes if there is any. here is one good read it throughly there is no la raza statistics either FAIR statistics none of them are real these is the real deal :
http://www.immigrationforum.org/documents/TheJourney/MythsandFacts.pdf
5- stop deportation of undocumented parents of citizens - the last thing you want for an american citizen is to make him/her a refugee in another country.
6- unionize workers the real enemy is China this is important because the more we are the better we will fight the chinese inavasion of products immigrants will be a major force in this.
7- point system lets get rid of the crappy legislation that we have now bring brains not hands.
8- guest worker programs with special provitions its not an easy task but there has got to be a way to do this right.
9- no more chain family migration only the children.
10- end the cuban status, salvatorian tps and ask puerto ricans are they a state or not if not bye bye bye.
as I say the point system would have allowed most visa overstayers that really contribute to come legally but given the current law thats not even a chance ask Mr. Bill Gates that wants to bring good people to america but he cant.

I think it would have been more interesting if they'd first asked "Thinking about immigration, would you favour or oppose creating a program that would allow illegal immigrants already living in the United States for a number of years to stay in the country and apply for U.S. citizenship?" without mentioning taxes -- once they planted the idea of pay/don't pay, the money becomes more the issue than any other aspect of it.

The only thing that amnesty brings is more demands for more amnesty. In 1986 over 3 million were granted amnesty, now we have between 12-20 million. If we grant another amnesty does that mean in 2027 we will once again have between 30-50 million demanding another amnesty

I support a path to citizenship ..Hell I support an outright Amnesty,,And I do not think that hard working people who have to live from hand to mouth should have to pay a load of back Taxes,,Why should they,,They did not get the benefit or protection or anything while they earned their money,,Why should they pay Back Taxes

I think you posted the wrong poll. The one you posted didn't discuss the bill but a hypothetical group of people who had been here for years, had jobs and paid back taxes. I suspect non-criminal and non-gang was assumed by all. That wasn't how the bill was written.

You didn't read other articles! Check out:

This article states that only 30% wanted the immigration bill. That totally contriducts your article. AND, any article that calls ILLEGAL aliens "undocumented" is biased and slanted toward the left.

Nice try but you are totally WRONG!

Having them pay back taxes would make it more palatable for me, but it's till not enough. I'm more concern of future illegal immigrants. If we don't stop future illegal immigration, legalizing the ones here already, would encourage more. The issue for those against illegal immigration is not the 12 million, but the fear of even more coming in.

I support a path to citizenship as you know and I think paying back taxes should be a component of any path to citizenship. Its a reasonable price to pay for citizenship.
