If you are going to make that kind of commitment, put a lot of thought into it. Where are you most comfortable with having one? Do you want it out there for the world to see? Do you want it in a place where you could show it if you want and it is easily cover-able if you don't? I would also think of something that has a lot of meaning for you. My cousin loves fairies and has a small one sitting on a mushroom on her hip. My friend has a Hawaiian Warrior Helmet on his shoulder, to honor his Hawaiian heritage, and an anchor with Polynesian Tribal Shadow because he is a Merchant Marine. Once you decide your topic or design, take a look at the work of the artist you have chosen and see what he/she has done that may be similar, and see if you like how they did it. Tattoos can be removed, but they are basically considered a life long commitment. I love well done tattoos that have meaning and consider them a living canvas. People who get a tattoo just to have them or because their friends have one are like lemmings and usually end up with something they are embarrassed by later in life. Good luck on your decision.

i am sure you have thought it through carefully but just in case you have not:
be sure you want this for the rest of your life.
consider putting it where it wont show in business and formal attire, but will when you want it to, like at the beach, in your party clothes etc. I have several, but you would not know it while I am working or at a formal function.
look for a design that screams who you are, do not go for the same old stuff most women get, hearts, flowers, butterfly.
resist the temptation to scratch it after it is done. keep it covered and follow your artist aftercare instructions.
do not believe the "only tramps and low class people get tattoos" stuff you will get. I am neither, make good money and have many friends like me.
if you are somewhat of a baby when it comes to pain, take a standard dose of Tylenol extra strength before you go in.
Good luck.

hi. you should first consider where you want to put it or how big it is. Coz if that tattoo shows of especially when you are looking for a job you might want to reconsider it

pick something out that you like...wait a few months or a year...and if you still like it..then get it. remember, those things are permanent unless you wanna spend ALOT of $ on the surgery to remove it. as far as where to put it..remember, the closer to bone it is, the more its gonna hurt.
its a good idea to sit and observe people being tattood before getting one done.

Try a henna tatoo first to see if you like it. If not, you only have to deal with it for several days.

please don't get a "tramp stamp" or a tat on your lower back. 9 out of 10 girls have them. get something creative and different. tattoos are about originality so keep that in mind.
