And if so, what does that make God, who has a whole laundry list of abominations and sins and other intolerances?

Yes...everyone is not automatically granted tolerance and allowed to do whatever they want. If they are doing harm to others, of course this should not be tolerated. However, if they are not hurting anyone it is wrong to be intolerant toward them. In the end tolerance does not make you a moral person but knowing the difference between what to tolerate and what not to does. Labels are always paradoxical because everything is relative. Nothing is really definite. I've only had 2 hrs of sleep so I'm sorry if that kind of made no sense :D

Yes. You're also resentful for resenting resentment. That's okay, because I'm hateful for hating hatred. However, I'm loving for loving love.
How's about tossing a cookie in my direction? That's my way of justifying the justifying of justification. Or something.
[Edit] I just got a violation notice for telling a fundie to use the search function! I guess we really ARE forced to create drinking games while Yahoo wastes their bandwidth on questions that have already been answered a billion times!

No, we do not need to do an infinite regress here. Intolerance is intolerable. It's just sensible. We all need a bit of slack in our lives, and so we need to offer slack to others.
But I think your question is more about bigotry, which is at least a little different. Intolerance can be about all sorts of things, while bigotry is specific to prejudice: judging someone on the basis of trivial factors like skin color or religious affiliation before you know who they are as an individual.

Of course not. You're right, it's sensible.
That's why inspite of what golila's answer is, the teaching in that particular one is : Pointless to convert others.

Well you should try to tolerate being more tolerable under some more situations where you can tolerate it.. don't you think that would be totally terrific for you to try!

that makes God, who (though fictional) has god-like qualities, just that: GOD! he can do what he wants, and his people will always claim that his actions are always the right ones
