Well, you are 17 and at a stage in your life where some decisions you have the right to make however, I would ask you 'why' do you want an earring? I have seen many young men with earrings in their ears, but to be honest, very few of the young men in my church have pierced ears. It's funny though - when I think about it, several of the young ladies - including the Pastor's own niece - has a tatoo. And in the summer - the ladies have no problem 'not' covering them up. (I think they should be) but that's just me.
If you go back to Bibical history, the slave bore a hole in his ear to represent that he was bonded to his master and did not want to be 'free'. Throughout history, men have worn earrings in one or the other ear. Sailors wore an earring in one ear to represent his travels all over the world, or that he had crossed the Equator. Every culture has been represented with men wearing an earring. George Michael of "Wham" started the trend of White men wearing "two" pierced ears, and Mr. T began the trend of Black men.
I would only suggest that you ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in this decision process. The Word does teach us only that our bodies are the temple of the Lord and that we should glorify him in everything we do....will piercing your ear give God any glory?
This is in no way to condemn, but just to remind you that satan is very sly and creeps about stealing, killing and destroying. Sometimes we think that the little things we do 'don't really matter' because they are not hurting anyone, but all the time satan has a bigger web that is being spun for those who might easily be deceived.
Just pray and continue to hear from the Lord.

If you've been nice to him and he's never had a girlfriend, then that'll probably just do it! Don't wear slacks, wear more skinny jeans! It doesn't matter how big you think your legs or bum is, girls always look better in skinny jeans than slacks which can seem a bit frumpy at times. Try to flirt with him. Laugh at his jokes (but not everything he says) smile at him, play with your hair, you know, the usual stuff. Do all this and bear in mind that he might be a little shy at admitting his feelings, so it's always better if you get friends to help. If you get a friend to tell one of his friends that you like him then it will filter through to him. And seeing that he's never had a girlfriend and he's quite geeky, he probably won't believe it's true and it'll make him like you loads.

Back when I was in my 20s I wore
my long jet black hair way down to
my waist in braids, and my denomination
didn't approve of men having long hair.
But the people in my church adored me,
and told me my hair was beautiful.
I was so blessed that I always felt so
much love in church. So go ahead,
get your earring! I'll bet you will look
awesome with it, and if the folks in
your church have the true Spirit of Jesus,
they will love you earring or no.

Personally, I think anybody should be allowed to do what they want with their body. Weather or not your goofy Christian friends are going to accept it or not or tell you it's wrong is another matter all together.
I mean, on judgement day, do you really think the dialogue is going to go something like this:
God: Well well (insert name here), you lied to your mother, you robbed a store, you cheated on your wife with three other women, and by golly, you got a tiny glass stud put into your left ear. How do you plea?

Dress depends on what is currently accepted by society. And since about the mid 90's I think, an earing in a boys ear has been acceptable.2 earings is still kinda freaky and weird to me.

Christians aren't supposed to have ANY piercings...
Something about the body being a temple and we shouldn't destroy it...no piercings, tattoos, etc...things that weren't naturally in the body.
=========================
Personally, I don't have a problem with that. And I am pretty sure that was a Law of Leviticus...so don't worry about it.
Also, maybe since you're proud of your faith you could find a good looking cross? Just a suggestion.

I've my left ear pierced 3 times and my right ear pierced once.
The only thing you got to remember is if you have your right ear pierced more than your left then people will think you are gay.

I will get thumbs down but I don't care...
I am not THAT old but...
I can faintly remember when boys were boys and girls were girls. Now people in the church seek to fashion themselves like the world. Do you want to pattern your life like Jesus? Then why is this needed?
We should strive to be Christ like. I don't believe we need to be like the world, we need to show Jesus to the world.
If you want to do it, feel free. I want the world to see Jesus, not any worldly resemblences.

Well that is not wrong,
but it is recommended not to because all christians are not as open minded and problems must be avoided.

Nothing wrong with having your ear pierced. Religion has nothing to do with your ears.
