The first question is a little vague, but assuming that each woman caught ONLY one fish there were then 3 women. The vague part is that all women are daughters so there were actually 3 daughters, two of which also had children. The other way to answer is two women, both with children, each catching AT LEAST one fish, and one of them actually catching two. Nowhere does it say the women are related.
The second question answer is "Thirteen" containing the six letters T*H*I*R*E*N. Subtract one from thirteen and twelve remains.
