I like both. The sacrificial character of the Mass is more pronounced in the old mass.

Peace and blessings!

The vast majority of Catholics are not going to the Tridentine Mass today even though the decrees and creeds of the Council of Trent and First Vatican Council tell us that Catholics have the obligation to embrace and hold on to the traditional rites of the Church.

The Creeds of the Council of Trent and the First Vatican Council (1870) state: “I also accept and admit the received and approved rites of the Catholic Church in the solemn administration of the Sacraments.” And the Council of Trent infallibly decrees that:
“If anyone shall say that the received and approved rites of the Catholic Church accustomed to be used in the solemn administration of the Sacraments may be disdained or omitted by the minister without sin and at pleasure, or may be changed to other new ones by any pastor of the churches, whomsoever (quemcumque) let him be anathema.” (Session 7, Canon 13, Dz 856; D.S. 1613)

The spread of this confusion fulfills the prophecy of Pius XII (when he was still Msgr. Pacelli), which he specifically linked to the Message of Fatima:
" I am worried by the Blessed Virgin’s messages to Lucy of Fatima. This persistence of Mary about the dangers which menace the Church is a divine warning against the suicide of altering the Faith, in Her liturgy, Her theology and Her soul … A day will come when the civilized world will deny its God, when the Church will doubt as Peter doubted. She will be tempted to believe that man has become God."

I definitely prefer the tridentine Latin Mass, the Mass handed down by the Apostles.

I love the Mass in any form. It is the perfect prayer and the form of worship given to us By Our Lord Jesus Himself. WE have old testment readins, a reading from one of the epsitals and we stand for the gospel reading. Then the homily. Fr. leo McCalsiter late of Sacramento, ca had the greatest abiltiy to distill the maning of the days gospel reading into a very few words. words that styed with you after the Mass.
Then the euchirst take scenterr stage we do this because Jesus told us to, biblically and directly. Jesus actually transforms int o the bread and wine and we are invited to eat and drink him, why becasues it is what He told us to do. The Mass is where the supernatural touches the natural, it is as close to heaven as we can hope to be here on earth.

The old Mass. As Abel wrote, the sacrificial character is more pronounced. As a convert, I learned more about the Mass from assisting at the TLM only 3 times than I had from assisting at the NO 75 times. The body language alone is so powerful! Mass celebrated versus populum (which, contrary to popular belief, is NOT obligatory in the NO) now turns my stomach. It feels almost blasphemous to me.

The old Latin mass was the best. Its abandonment was a dumbing down. Translation was never difficult for anyone with a brain and in any case the old missels had the vernacular translation alongside the Latin. It was farewell to the ability of the church to call itself truly "catholic".

I really wanna go to a Tridentine Latin Mass.

Our Priest said that he doesn't know Latin; so we won't see him do it anytime soon. We do have a church nearby that is now doing this. I just have to get my buddies to go with.

I start school in the first grade in a Catholic school. This was when sisters wore long black habits and their mess of a mass was in Latin. Soon the sisters found out I was already an atheist, I was only 6 years old but I could think for myself, and I was expelled from school.

I am only 18...so I've only experienced the new mass...but because of the restriction being released, I want to have the priest do a Latin mass....

I have only been looking into the Catholic faith, not a full Catholic yet...

I think we should all learn latin so that redneck Americans can quit saying "In America learn to speak english" But then most idiots would know that latin is a base language.
