Your examples could be described as hallucinations, which can be explained by neuroscience and psychiatry, as they are symptoms of psychosis.
The study of the brain can reveal (and is revealing) cogent, valid explanations for the myriad of experiences that have been attributed to supernatural beings for millenia.

Well, I'm an oddball, an atheist with an interest in paranormal... have experienced my own stuff I could never explain, and it's just the select experiences I have never found an explanation for... and I'm pretty damn logical and good at figuring that stuff out... however *if* there is any reality to it I do NOT believe it is connected to deities or anything like that whatsoever, rather just a normal part of THIS world science hasn't figured out yet...
Some things it is easy for some people to jump to conclusions and think "it's a ghost!"...I am a skeptic of all except what I myself have not figured out... basically the biggest ones that are hard to forget..."ghost" is my last possible conclusion, only a few have made it 70% there...

I am not atheist and am Christian, so I don't know if I or my experiences count but I've had a lot of experiences that I could relate that cannot be explained by science.
Someone sat down on my water bed but I could not see them.
I've heard the brush of angels' wings next to my ear. No one was present in my house but me.
I saw a chair that was by the wall one minute and the next it was in front of my TV tray. I did not see it move but I looked up and it was there.
I saw a demonic face on the face of a young girl who has an eating disorder.
I heard a voice say, "Here's Hope for the Homeless." I found out my name means Hope in the dialect that the Porta Rician's speak.
Any of these coincedences? I don't think so. God bless

If most people see something they can't explain, then they jump right to the paranormal.
There could be a million different scientific explanations but rather then check these out they just say it was a ghost or something stupid like that.

Nope. Science has covered everything I've ever experienced. As for what people who claim to see ghosts are actually seeing, I don't know. But you asked about MY experience.
Besides, being an athiest doesn't preclude you from believing in ghosts, just God.

Like a threesome?
I don't believe in ghosts or the paranormal. I used to. But all the childhood wishful thinking in the world does not make something real.

Bare in mind that ghosts are explainable by science. The brain uses energy to function. So what happens to that energy when we die? I don't think that ghosts can interact though. It's like a mental picture.
