The story I heard was too brief to get full detail, but what I did hear on CNN was that the bull has TB, and in England they put sick animals (of that sort) down. The people were protesters, not owners. Don't take this as absolute, I wasn't listening that closely.

It spreads very quickly between animals ... and the Hindu's consider the cow and bull sacred ...

It must have been a tough decission - but; one had to be done regardless - they had to choose between the lessers of two gods ... to kill it and hope it stops - or to allow it to live knowing it will spread not ony to the other sacred cattle - but;

To the people as well.

Wonder if anyone ate it? If so - hope they stay over there and not come here to spread the love around ...

peace;

The bull was owned by monks in Wales, it was in no contact with other animals and was a danger to nothing. Better safe than sorry was the position taken by the authorities.

TB is contagious and is difficult to treat. By law, any animal with TB is to be destroyed to prevent the spread of the disease.
