well is going to be like a 100gallons of gas depending how big is a boat

Not to many hurricanes this year got you thinking to much. SHIP not boat for open water how many ton does the ship weight and how much water does it displace? No fuel needed at all if you choose sailing ships. Two stroke outboard motors drink fuel very fast. Inbord diesel engines are best that is engines! more than one! and most likely three two for propuslion and one for lights A/C and electricity and pumps.
