i was baptised catholic but i decided about 2 years ago i didnt believe in that stuff (i never really was religious in the 1st place). i just dont understand why people can believe in it. in my opinion it doesnt make any sense and i dont see any proof and i just dont understand how christians can believe in god so much when they've never actually talked to him or seen him. and the religion contradicts itself and i just dont get it. so why do you believe in your religion when you dont have proof and it sounds impossible? and im just wondering, they say that god knows everything that's going to happen so why would he create a person whom he apparently knew was going to hell and why would he even make a hell in the 1st place? i dont understand any of this...

You have to understand that this forum doesn't work well for questions like that. It's a lot deeper than can be explained in a few lines here. Sorry - try asking some Christians you know in real life - hopefully they can help answer your question for you.

Having been baptised as a catholic is a first step to be a true Christian. Why question something that you in yourself knows the answer. Faith is something you believe within yourself. Why dont your try researching or even better soul searching. Even I ask that question. If you read the Bible, your questions will be answered. Try to join Bible study group so you can share more your opinion. Being a catholic is not enough. Living a christian catholic life should be the answer.

I believe in God because of Christs death on the Cross for me. There is no proof that God exists and there is nothing that says that he doesnt. Its a waste of time to sit and argue these things because its a circle. I cant prove God exist. All I have is the Bible and I believe that it is Truth and its the inspired, Inerrant Word of God. How is it that Christianity contradicts itself? Im just curious about that! I think its Romans 9, were the apostle Paul talks about Gods sovereign choice and that he chooses to have compassion and mercy on whom he pleases. God has to punish sin He cant let it just go on. God is holy and because of that no one who is stained with sin can enter into his presence, the Bible says that we would instantly die. If people dont repent and believe then they will perish into hell. Alternatively, if we believe that Christ died for our sins and repent we will be forgiven and have eternal life with God in heaven.

Just know I am not trying to claim that I have all the answers or anything like that. I am not self righteous or attempting to be. I do believe strongly in God, and it seems like alot of people are against Christians in so many ways. I do believe that believing in GOd and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to heaven and eternal life. I am a sinner saved by AMAZING grace!

Why do people like you say that it does not make sense, when you don't say what does not make sense? Where is their contradictions? God is God, we are sinners, God is just and their has to be payment for sin- GOD IS LOVE- so He made a way for us, by sending His Son Jesus to pay the price we could never pay. That is pretty clear to me. Love of God does not negate the justice and wrath of God, however His love is overpowering when you accept it. WE ALL DESERVE HELL- it is our choice if we go there or not. By the way, think of it this way- I would not want to serve a God that programmed me so I had no choice in this world.

You answered your own question. "You dont understand". So you bash instead.

I dont believe in religion, I believe in and know God/Jesus, and in His church(the Catholic Church). Hell is not the place of eternal torment , that would be the Lake of Fire. Hell is another word for paradise and purgatory.

Apparently you did not pay attention during your Catholic education.

Kate, I was raised Roman Catholic.

I had the same view, or confusion, you do about 21 years ago. I didn't think much of religion or the people who follow it.

Then, I had some interesting experiences that made me begin to wonder about God. I started to seek God, by reading the Bible and praying.

Jesus revealed himself to me; mostly through his word. When I believed it and was born again, my WHOLE life changed.

I humbly plead with you: please read the Bible. Listen to what God says in it. Ask Jesus to reveal himself. He will.

TEK
Faith comes by hearing, by hearing the word of God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. If you will just grope in the darkness and ask for him to reveal himself, he will reveal himself and give you the faith to know him and be born again.

All of those statements are promises from the Bible.

Jesus' disciples died a martyrs death (that's according to non-religious historians), do you suppose they died for a fairy tale. Over 2,000 years later, Christians are still suffering for their faith, in many parts of the world with their lives. There must be something to it. Jesus lives in my heart and guides my life and gives me peace, you can't .

You really have more than one question. I know of no contradictions.

Hell was created for Satan (a fallen or rebellious angel) and his demons.

If you want honest answers to your disbelief, try talking to a minister (other than Catholic) (no offense meant). Someone who is educated in Scripture might help explain stuff. Hope you find what your looking for.

Hell was made for the devil and his demons. If you don't want to live with God, there's only one other place for you to go.

I believe "that stuff" because I've seen and learned that it's real.
