I had a recurring dream for years, at home and when I went off to college! It did not come to me as much as I got older, over 30, but once in a while it would. Now that I am 62, I haven't received it in years.

In retrospect, I think it was a dream about the "end" of the world, or maybe the so-called "rapture". Was it a message from God? Maybe one day I will discover the answer.

When I have the dream, it is extremely REAL, in color and with lots of sound. I think there are some smells, because I definitely had dreams with smells, but that hasn't stayed with me as much for this one. While I am having the dream, I am THERE! If I awake too early in the sequence I will be drenched in sweat!

The color is really important as it starts off (always) with my mother and I looking out a kitchen window at the constellations and the stars start changing color from "white" to "red"! The dream starts off very horribly, with a heavy feeling of dread, oppression and foreboding. But the dream "ends" happily, almost euphoric. I put "end" in quotes because it didn't ever have a resolution and didn't always proceed as far along. But it always followed the same sequence!

Anyway, without going into all the details, it involves the constellations re-forming into vaguely space-ship shapes and moving around! There seems to be some type of battle going on in outer space. Of course, I was a huge science fiction fan when this started in the latter 1950's! Anyhow, there are weird sounds of futuristic weapons, sounds of crowds screaming and terror, and such.

As this phase of the dream progresses, my neighbor, a female friend my age, bond together in trying to figure out what is going on. She and I are two of the few who do not completely panic! We are terrified along with the rest, but we are determined to find out what is going on!

The next phase of the dream is very weird. Large bubbles, like spheres of soap, start floating down to earth. Most of the people are really panicked by this, but my friend and I are attracted to the bubbles, which are transparent or translucent with highlights of color like a soap bubble. We even "cavort" among them as they get closer.

Most bubbles are empty, but some contain a benign (at least to my friend and I) creature who is indistinct in shape and seems to be mostly "spirit". I don't know to this day if that is the correct word but can't come up with anything else. The creature doesn't really "communicate" with us but there is a "sense" of understanding that could be a type of telepathy involving emotions only. But it understands our wish to "ride" in a bubble and (in the versions of the dream which go on this long) and grants us the opportunity to float above our neighborhood in separate conveyances.

I also had "flying" dreams when I was younger, and this part of the dream was similar to those, but we were held within the "bubble". It was soft and ply-able, as thin-walled as a soap bubble, but I never felt apprehension that the walls could not hold my weight!

The dream never did not progress further than my friend and I excitedly sharing our experience of the "bubble ride". I was not even a Christian at the time I started having the dream several times a week! I didn't commit to God until 30 years later!

Between the ages of 10 and 21 I had a series of very vivid dreams, full color, sounds, the works. Plotlines, almost as if they were movies. All of them started with the mushroom clouds growing on the horizon. One was set 3200 years in the future, and the Earth had become a waterworld, long before Costner's movie. Most had simple messages which became titles, like "Bullets won't stop them!" about mutated Komodo Dragons that escape from the wreckage of the Zoo in New York. Nothing less than a 12 gauge slug down the throat kills them. They're as big as horses, can climb and I lost most of my squad to them before the villagers we're hired to protect come up with a 50 caliber rifle that works at a longer distance.
In another I'm in a garden ranting on to a friend about somebody I'm planning to kill when a lady dressed like a nun comes up to me and gently convinces me to have mercy. This one wound up titled "keep'm holstered." (This one has kept several people alive since then.)
One starts in a building on an airport where a girl and I have to stand off a hell's angel biker gang type group. We have lots of guns and lots of ammo but none of the ammo fits the guns. So, we have to do it hand to hand. This is also occured before Mad Max and the original Assault on Precinct Thirteen.

I had a dream when I was about 6 or 7. The sky was red. Two armored knights were jousting and in between them were screaming souls. There were stands where Christ and about 100 calm people silently and mournfully watched these souls being jousted. It was definately a memorable dream..kinda creepy.
