i am going soon and want to know what ID i need now.

You need at least one piece of government photo id (driver's license covers this), as well as your birth certificate (or other proof of birth)...

Of course, a Passport covers BOTH of these - and you'll need one to cross BACK into the US anyways ;););)

Until summer of 2008 for driving into the USA you need to prove your citizenship and have a piece of government issued photo ID. Most times these are your birth certificate and drivers license.

If your flying you need a passport

I have no official photo id so i get across by birth card but if you drive you show your license too.
flying passport
2010 (or 08 even not sure) for everything will need passport

Going into Canada, and coming out, a recent passport. I say recent, because they do expire after a number of years.

i dont think you need anything but a license...maybe a passport, i know we need passports to get into Canada.
