Someone just told me this about the Old Testament: "Jesus now instituted a new Law Covenant with all that would follow him." It was in response to abominations brought up in the Old Testament, how they were 'no longer true' - oh, wait, EXCEPT for the one about homosexuals!

Dee deep!

If the Mosaic Law ended with Jesus' death then why are so many Christians still bigoted and hateful toward homosexuals? Are they ignorant? The other abominations included eating anything from the water without fins or scales, lying, looking haughty, not crossing in the crosswalk, etc.:

Most Christians who answered the question told me that a. The O.T. had only to do with Exodus and 'not the rest of us' or only paid attention to the one dietary restriction I mentioned - shellfish. Did the words LYING, NOT CROSSING AT THE CROSSWALK, & HAUGHTY EYES not get through somehow?

If you don't read it out of context (and do some research), you will see there is a REASON behind each thing that is banned. Pork and shellfish are unclean animals. Pork has the most saturated fat and cholesterol of all meats, and shellfish are bottom feeders. It's "tainted" meat.

Homosexuality, and the unnatural sexual practices they perform creates and spreads diseases more readily than heterosexual sex.

As for lying and looking haughty...why do you even defend those? You LIKE lying and being lied to? Haughty people don't annoy you in the least bit? The crosswalk thing I couldn't tell you anything about...and I don't think it's in there.

The only thing that ended (or should have...) is the hatred. Anyone of any walk of life is now accepted into the church...granted that they change their ways. It is ALL choice. The only thing genetics has done is make you male or female, and determine your body and thinking type. It's simple logic that homosexuality is a choice by nature because people can be convinced that they are gay or straight at any point in life. If it were genetic, it would be like telling a blind person they could see.

Well, the fact of the matter is this - if they would READ what is written in Exodus (just as an example), they would notice this little bit:

So Moses has been up on the mountain with "God", and "God" tells Moses to tell the people gathered at the bottom this:

"I am the Lord thy God, who brought three out of the land of Egypt, our of the house of bondage".

Now, who in heck do we think Moses was telling this to?

It's right there, and previously in Exodus. Moses was delivering a message from "God" to "the children of Israel" that were there at the bottom of Mount Sinai, NOT all the people everywhere in the world, and CERTAINLY not the Gentiles.

NONE of the rules/laws in the Tanakh apply to anyone but "the children of Israel" (and the direct descendants of those people) AND THEY NEVER DID.

And they have the nerve, some of these self-identified Christians, to call themselves "bible believing" Or "literalists".

EDIT: Oh, and they tend to always forget this part, too, which is *directly after* the "not suffer a sorceress to live" and "Whosoever lieth with a beast" bits:

"And a stranger shalt thou not wrong, neither shalt thou oppress him; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt"

IOW, leave those other folks alone, don't tell them how to live their lives.

*blows kisses back to Thrice Baked* Love you, sweetie.

First off, the Law did not end with Yashua's sacrifice on the stake. Those that teach the Law was done away with and no longer binding are calling Him a liar:

Matthew 5:17 ‘Do not suppose that I came to throw down the law or the prophets—I did not come to throw down, but to fulfil;
18 for, verily I say to you, till that the heaven and the earth may pass away, one iota or one tittle may not pass away from the law, till that all may come to pass.
19 ‘Whoever therefore may loose one of these commands—the least—and may teach men so, least he shall be called in the reign of the heavens, but whoever may do and may teach them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.

Please note that heaven and earth have not passed away. Please note also that those who do and teach the Law will be given a superior position in the Kingdom of God than those who teach against the Law.

Secondly, the prohibition against homosexuality is found in the book of Romans in the New Testament. (Romans 1:27)

God did not have to restate all the Laws in the New Testament because the believers were already being taught to observe those Laws. The "Old" Testament was the only scripture in existence at that time:

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

This cannot refer to the "New" Testament, since it had not yet been compiled.

That means the Biblical Sabbath and the dietary laws are still binding on believers as they are part of what Paul is telling Timothy to study for instruction in righteousness.

Pretty simple, most "Christians" are totally decieved as to what their Bibles truly say.

The law is still there to point out sin and drive the person to Christ. A Christian is no longer under the law, but is a new creature on a path of growth to holiness. "the law is for the lawless". A Christian has received the Holy Spirit, but still has the "old man" there also, so no perfection until heaven.

I personally think that the things God told Moses to tell the children of Israel hold true for our good today. It's just that NO ONE can perfectly follow the law and so Jesus came so we can be dependent on Him to save us and not trying to be perfect. There was a reason God said don't shellfish...have you seen what they eat? Yuck. All of those things are still things we should avoid-but I do like a good fried shrimp now and then!!
