I prefer carbon arrows...Mostly becouse they are alot more durable that the old aluminum arrows...I destroyed many an arrow just by putting another arrow next to the other with the old aluminum arrows.......With the carbons I haven't had this problem as of yet, but I have split a carbon arrow, so don't try to get your groups supper close....Plus with carbons you usually get more speed on the arrow, which gives you more penitration when hitting the game animal......Yes you will pay a bit more 4 carbon but you will be far ahead by doing so, they will last 4-5 times longer and stay true for as long as you have the arrow........You can't beat the carbon arrows, the aluminum arrows are more of a problem than anything, the cedar arrows are to thick and bulky , let along splinter very easy, and the fiber glass arrows will shatter in cold climates, and they don't stay true worth a darn......I belive that you beat bet is with the carbon arrows, and I'd bet that most others would say the same.......good luck and I hope this helped......

In the 3 decades I have been hunting with Bow I have used wood, fiberglass, aluminum and Carbon.
I am amazed at just how good the carbon arrows are.
No other arrow I have ever used have taken the punishment and even still stayed in the quiver like the carbon.
True the carbon is more expensive then the aluminum arrow but the carbon arrow has lasted better then 3 to 1 over the aluminum.
With aluminum arrows you will need to have an arrow straightened quite often.
For they warp and bend very easy, hit a tree, deer or rocky soil and you will normally you will warp or bend the aluminum arrow out of tune.
Where as the carbon will flex and come back to true shape.
I have one carbon arrow I nock in my bow the start of each deer season, for the last 3 years.
That same arrow has taken 3 Bucks and 2 Does thus far and is still in perfect tune.
For the money I would have to say Carbon is a wise investment.

In the long run you will find it is much cheaper to use carbon arrows even though the initial cost of them is higher then aluminum. And don't be frightened by the videos of carbon arrows breaking when shooting them. The odds of lightning striking you would be about the same. In most incidences of arrow breakage when being shot, it was with a heavy draw compound and using carbon arrows that were much too light weight to be shot from a bow that they were not designed to be shot from. People sometimes use the lightest weight carbon arrows they can find to make their bow shoot faster then anyone Else's. Sometimes they pay a price for it.

I like carbon much more because they will stand up to more day to day target shooting wear than aluminum. It takes alot of force to split or break a carbon arrow but alum arrows may start to dent, bend or break with just normal sort of usage.
Carbons are much more expensive and not a good choice if you are just getting into archery and don't have much experience because you will eventually lose many of the first set of arrows you buy.

I prefer both for different reasons. I use only carbon arrows on my compound bow for the penatration and light weight = faster arrows. On my recurve I use aluminum arrows to acheive the correct spine. And some traditional shoots I go to will not allow carbon arrows.

I tend to use wood as I enjoy making the arrow myself. However, if I had to choose between aluminium and carbon, it would definitely be carbon because its faster and stronger, also where price is concerned I haven't seen too much of a difference.
