its real easy to tell someone to eat healthy, but pretty hard to do. i enjoy fruit (not so much with vegetables) quite a bit, and i eat plenty of both, but i also eat junk. im trying really hard to cut back, but no matter what i do, i find that by the end of the day that i slipped. ive tried printing off pictures of food pyramids and putting tallies in the sections after i eat, to make sure i am eating healthy, cuz it makes me feel good when i eat a good meal like steamed vegetables, raw fruit, and grilled chicken and i can tally the meat, fruit and vegetable section without talling the fats/sweets/oils, but that only works for a day, then it seems the more i think about it after the first day, the more i slip. agggghhh. its a constant battle. ive also tried to eat a small bit of junk in moderation, but then once i start, i just keep pigging on it. grrrr. ok, enough complaining. any suggestions? I also work at a fast food restraunt where i get unlimited pop. (thats also hard to resist)

hm...i know that its hard to do, and, like you, i eat fruits a lot more than i do vegetables. but what can i say...they're not as good as fruits.
well it truly is hard to stop eating junk food. but its possible, and i've done it. it certainly doesnt help that you're working at a fast food restaurant. im really sorry, but for your own good and for the good of the public health, you should stop working there.
hm...well the first thing you should do is GET MOTIVATED.
look in the mirror and repeat to yourself with confidence and self-esteem. "I will stop eating junkfood because I am confident and courageous and strong enough to do so." say that constantly. seriously...whenever you're not doing anything else, or you're just driving or walking, repeat that to yourself. in your head, if you cant out loud. but when you're looking in the mirror, do it out loud. it will seem awkward i guarantee, but it DOES help.
the next step is to well...clearly...STAY AWAY FROM THE JUNK FOOD. when you look at the junk food and are about to eat it, think of how bad it is for you. do you want to unhealthfully gain weight? do you want to have an increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, etc.? do you want to suffer from stroke? do you want to suffer from coronary heart disease? do you want to have trouble breathing for the rest of your life? do you want this junk food to become so big of a problem that it affects your emotional life? do you want it to give you a bad mood constantly? because, believe it or not, i've seen that happen to MANY people. and yes, it is because of the food. and also remember, that all of these questions are only part of the many bad things that junk food can do to you.
also, if your hand ever starts to go near junk food, take your other hand and slap it away. or you could simply make your hand stop, and then pause to think about it, and convince yourself using the questions above to bring your hand back.
if you wish to continue working at the fast food restaurant, bring your own lunch. eat HEALTHY. think HEALTHY. breathe HEALTHY. live HEALTHY. be HEALTHY. hope this helped!

Well I'm actually in the process of gaining weight but I'm sure this will help you as well. It's kind of like the tallies in the pyramid but it's much more effective. Simply keep a food journal, write down everything you ate during the day and keep track. Every week look at the past week of what you ate that was good and was you ate that bad. For example if you got hungry and so and so hour and ate like some junk food or something, next time bring a snack so when the hunger strikes you got something lined up to combat it. Now think about the bad situations and think of a healthy alternative so if the situation arises again you have a solution. Also it helps to actually let you come to a complete understanding of how much junk your actually absorbing.

Get the junk out of your house. Treat non-diet soda as if it were cyanide. That alone will lose you 6 pounds a month. Now, if you want a snack, think of a 12-ounce steak, just liek you like it, NOt intrested? You're not hungry, drink about a litre of water then get back to soemthing that engages you to a pouint you don't think about food.

I had problems like you when I tried many other diets.

When I started on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, losing weight was a different experience. I was still eating delicious foods and most my favourites. I had little cravings and most wonderful of all, I lost weight smoothly and quickly and improved my health.

I am also on a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.

I work in a restaraunt and was picking little things here and there all day, someone suggested that I write down everything I put in my mouth for 1 week, once I read all the junk I had consumed I quit picking
