I've had three wranglers. I think they are great cars. Especially when you are young. They are fairly easy to work on if you need to change the oil and whatnot. They are definitely fun. I would say they make great first cars. Once you get a little older and are thinking of a family, have a job where you can't get out of the car with a little wrinkle in the shirt, the jeep isn't quite as practical but when you're young, they are fantastic.

I've had 3 others in the past so I may be bias, but I would have to say yes they are great vehicles.
That is why they have change very little since their inception in the late 30's

Jeeps are nice ! Are you getting a soft top one? or hard top.
What is good about a jeep? They are no nonsense, usually front wheel or 4 wheel drive so they have enough climbing power to take you to the mountains to drag your bike or skis along. It is made by American motors, a great company with excellent reputation.
What is bad? the looks are too rugged. It depends on the company you keep and the image you want others to associate with you. ask your closest friends and the ones you hang out with the most.
I also remember the jeep to be very cold in the winter. Check the gas consumption as well.

Wranglers are great first cars. Hell it was my first car and is still my main form of transportation. They dont get horrible gas millage, they are easy to work on, and they dont have an excessive amount of power like a car with a v8 would have. Also if you are interested in 4 wheeling it is the best 4 wheeling vehicles out there.

well it depends i love wranglers i hav one but is not my first car i just drive it one weekend a month or so is a realy fun car i love it to go off road on it or to just chill on it but i woulnt have it a s a first car cuz if u r going to be driving it all the time u will see that is kind of unconfortable to be on it , the best first c ars in my opninion r sedans or small suv , but u know how it is u will get what u like just like my my first car is a corvette so u can say that im a little crazy +

it depends on if you have experience driving other types of vehicles on the road (or off.)
if you have that experience then by all i means i would buy!
what a fun first vehicle to have.
most of your driving will be on the road i assume, but its always nice to know that you can make a right anywhere you please ;)
