If you're visiting Greenwich Village start at Washington Square Park. If you head north, go to 8th Avenue. South, Bleecker Street. East St. Marks Place. West Christopher Street.

The best thing to do is just walk around and find little shops that appeal to you. There are a ton of restaurants....I always like the cute ones that you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere and watch people going by. Go to Washington Park...there is usually music or something going on there.

Here is a site that provides some additional info about Greenwich Village:

you're basically going to be able to find anything you want. i'd head to washington square park for people watching, and since nyu is based around there there will be a lot of good food places too. union square (just walk north on university place from washington square park) has shops like sephora, filenes basement, barnes and noble, dsw, forever 21, or if you walk over to st marks place, there are some smaller, less mainstream shops there. have fun!
