Why is it that some people say they are christians but act different towards their own family? My hubby's brother and his wife and 4 kids all go to church on wed's and sunday's morn and night and anything else that is going on.My husband and I used to go to church but since he works third shift and has to sleep on sun. to go to work we don't any more we still believe in god and pray but we also like to go out to the bar and do what we want. and his family act different when they are around church folks but when it comes to us it's all different when we offer to help watch the kids in a bind they would rather take the kids to the pastor and his wife to watch. When there is get togethers with people from their church and with my hubby's parents and neighbors,we see people we used to know from another church we used to go to and you try to talk to them and they just head to his brothers family like you aren't even there now. Nothing against all christians I know everyone isn't like that.

Some christians missed it when they become saved. They think they are better than others and treat unsaved like an out-cast. Overlook them and pray for them. Do not let this situation stopped you from attending church. Them that present themselves like christians without no love or comnpassionate, they know not what it means to love another and is off into self exhaustation.

Ummm. In all respect, it's way too difficult to track with your thoughts. I'd be glad to help you, if I could really understand your question.

Sounds like you have family that are trying to get you guys to go to church because that's their culture. You aren't too interested in church, because it doesn't fit your lifestyle.

Would it help if I told you that God is more interested in your heart than whether you sleep on Sunday?

Get a good modern Bible translation and start reading it. (New International is good, or New American Standard) Start making some choices based on what it says. If you went to a church in the past, you should be able to handle that.

I have no idea what KIND of "church" you're talking about, but maybe people are treating you differently because you are different. Could it be that your lack of interest in Church is because your heart is hardened toward God?

Reading that Bible will help you. You will realize what God wants in your life, and what he will do in your life, when you take his word seriously. If you do that, I suspect all the other stuff will fall in to place for you.

Blessings.

Ma'am, sounds like you folks need to rededicate yourselves. You have allowed a root of bitterness to build in your life because these people are obeying Gods Word by not fellow shipping with the unfruitful works of darkness. You know you are wrong, and you are looking for conformation on here.
Well, you'll find it, but wouldn't you rather here the truth and find yourself back in fellowship with the One True God of Heaven who's Son died for you?

Sister, you seriously, I pray, will see the truth here and repent.

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
Heb 10:25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Heb 10:26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
Hebrews 10:27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.

These people are not living like Christ wants us to. Jesus didn't treat people like this. These people are just going to church, but not living by what they learn in church. The church is a place for a loving spirit and you and your husband need to go to a church that has this spirit. There are churches with this family spirit and you will welcome it. This doesn't mean that everyone will be this way, but if the church is led by a spirit led leader(that follow Gods laws) the congregation should follow.

Like you said, not all Christians are like that. Just pray and seek God's direction on where you should attend church.

And or visit some different Church's.

and as someone else stated the whole going to bars thing....yeah that should probably go....but I'm not going to tell you what to do.

and it's not about his brother or anyone else it's about you and your relationship with Christ.

The key to your problem is 'we also like to go out to the bar and do what we want.' You are being 'lukewarm' in your faith and actions. It would be better to be either hot or cold. So choose...blessing or cursing, life or death?
BTW, 'church' is not where the truth is. Rely on scripture alone. But make your choice now, or it will be made for you someday.
Just trying to give you an honest answer.

ahh. pecking order of the church is in play. that pastor isn't so much an anointed minister of the lord as he is a quintessential strongman.

they want to take the kids to the pastor to get that approval rating up. move up the pecking order. your husband's brother is lost. maybe he'll lose faith or get in an argument at the church. it's your only hope.

I am Christian, and I wouldn't even think of judging a book by its cover, I wouldn't judge a single person, I may have done so as an adolescent, but there is no point now, for I love all.

1 JOHN 4:7-21

let your family read that, it is my favorite verse in the bible
