I know something about it already and just wanted to ask you where would you start from... my first book was The Supreme Understanding
... And please stop telling me about Christianity, it is not a religion that suits me

There are two..."The Idiots Guide to Understanding Buddhism", by Gary Gach and Buddhism for Dummies.
Either one or both of these books will give you a good foundation and you can proceed from there. You can find them at Barnes and Nobles, Books-a-Million, Borders, or Amazon.com. There are different sects and these books will help you learn about the different ones and the generalities of Buddhism

why do you want to join buddhism if you don't know what it is about??
it's truly a very interesting religion, and probably more believable than Catholic/Christian...but before you pick a religion, you should know about each of them.

You can drop by any Buddhist Temple and ask the monk for a book. They have some in English.

First I would recommend reading the Bible. Read the
book of John and ask a minister to explain what you
don't understand.

You should know that Buddha is dead. He never reached Nirvana.
Jesus, on the other hand is risen from the dead, is alive and is in heaven at the right hand of God.
Choose to follow Jesus.
