First thing is to accept responsibility for the reason the car is in the impound in the first place. Your "boyfriend" acted irresponsibly by getting in and driving while under the influence of alcohol which put the safety of others at risk. You acted irresponsibly by dating the jerk in the first place. Maybe it would be better if both of you just walk where you need to go and forget the car till both of you grow up.

Sorry honey, but as you are not his legal spouse or a legal owner of the vehicle, there is nothing you can do.
As you indicate he has a hearing tomorrow, he could plead his case to the Judge and hopefully you and your 2 year old can be there to support him and play on the sympathy of the Judge. If the Judge does grant any special favors, like getting it out ahead of time but having to pay towing and impound fees to date, don't balk or say a word other than "Thank you" and pay the fees.
Keep in mind in some states, like Florida, a Judge could issue a forfeiture of vehicle even on a 1st OWI/DUI (most don't, but it is an option).

Well if your not legally married and your not on the car registration I doubt YOUR going to have much luck with the judge. When your boyfriend goes to court make him plead his case saying you need it for your family! That it is your only means of transportation, for work kids, extra. Most likely however you going to pay towing fees, impound fees and some attorney fees depending on your state laws for dui.
also your boyfriend will lose his license at least for 1 year!
He might be able to get a hard ship permit!
The hearing your going to is just about the car, I doub that it most likely the hearing where he will plead guilty or not or no contest.
If you plead not there will be a trail.

I am assuming that this vehicle is in california due to the 30 day hold. If it is, the vehicle was held due to a suspended license/no license. If he is the sole registered owner, the hold is intended as a punishment for him, restricting him from using his car, in all cases, a hardship caused by this is not only ignored but intended, your alternatives are pulic transportation.
The reason for these laws are due to the fact that people who drive drunk KILL people every day, if we had no consequences, they would not feel the impact of their wrongdoings.

You need to contact an attorney. My best recommendation is to try and find an attorney at legal aid to best address your needs.
My second recommendation - tell that "boyfriend" and FATHER TO YOUR CHILDREN - to clean up his act.....OR HE'S GONE........
Did the car he was driving have a car seat in it????? If he is foolish enough to gamble with his own safety - knowing that another child is on the way - what's to say he won't gamble with your's or the children's.
Please - get some HELP!
