I know people that went SOOO far out that NOW they're divorced and STILL making payments for the wedding...
my wedding cost the following: My $900 dollar plane trip to Brazil, I already had my own suit, R$185 ($86), 3 day honeymoon suite R$210 ($97), 3 x1-layer cakes R$96($45), 1 roundtrip and one 1 way ticket from Aracaju, SE to Sao Paulo, SP $180 (R$360-at that time)...food at wedding $R200,($100), 18 carat gold rings R$50 ($25)
grand total:
USD $1433
but..we were happy then..we're happier now! We HAVE upgraded our rings since then...but we still put more importance on our kids and our marriage than on material aspects ..even our upgrades were STILL under 1000 collectively...but are both beautiful...and yes her ring was much more expensive than mine..she just prefers our own happiness together than worrying about the size of an diamond.my gift to her is what she loves more and that is Vera Wang perfume which is plenty..but I LOVE getting it for her! She smells GREAT it!

Well, I hate to sound cheap, but I was broke when my wife and I got married. She got her wedding dress off Ebay for $120 (brand new designer dress), I rented my tux for $85, My friend owned a catering company so she made all the food for $500, The location was $100, The pastor wouldnt take any money. My friend owns his own wedding videography company so he did the video for free. My wife had just graduated and was on the prom committe, so we kinda borrowed the large 10 foot tall whit roman style columns and the navy mesh for decorations. (our colors were navy and silver) Her grandma makes wedding cakes, so she did the cakes and flowers for free. And we couldnt afford a wedding photographer so we handed out about a dozen disposals...so I guess thats like $80. My aunt owned a becau house on the Gulf of Mexico so we went there for a week for free...lol. It helps to know some people to help you out. I think grand total we spent about.....$900-$1000 And I promise you that if you saw it...it was beautiful and we loved every minute of it.

My wedding wound up costing about $2000 and it was beyond wonderful. Fourteen years later I'm still getting compliments on it, and unlike most women I know, I actually a) remember my wedding and b) had a great time at it.
Yeah, I'm sure there are people who've had less expensive weddings, but I wouldn't trade that day for anything in the world. And while I didn't spend an arm and a leg, I got a lot of the trappings that people associate with a big price tag: live music, more than enough food and drink to go around, custom made pure silk gown, and a nice photo album.
Best of all, I got married to the sweetest guy in the world.

Year 15 and the wedding only cost 5k and we served 150 guests! I got a great deal on the hall and since they cater it was 2 for one - chose buffet service over a sit down fare and had a friend DJ (it was there job then and so it was also our gift). The rings belonged to his family so the sentiment was there and they are a personal treasure I look forward to passing on when my own son gets married. Weddings should be about celebrating the union not going into debt. Cheers to all of us who chose to laugh more and stress less!

Including my dress and everything I think we spent less then $4000. We had help from a lot of family and friends. My dads friend is a florist, my mother in laws friend is a photographer etc.
We saved a lot of money that way. Plus I did all the decorations, bouquets, flower girls basket myself it was a lot of fun.
I thought our wedding day was wonderful and our honeymoon was great too!

Mine is costing around £2000 British pounds, and for a London wedding believe me that's very inexpensive.
