Why are so many people picky about religion?

I think that people who is picky about religion is people that was educated under a very strong faith... That is so deep inside them, that they really think they are in the right religion, faith or place. I mean, they don't recognize other religions as real or correct religions. I think that it;'s important to see variety... it's interesting to know about other faiths, but what it's more important than everything is to live in peace and doing good.

How do you mean picky?

Do you mean it in a sense that there can only be one true way? In many senses this is true. Not all religions in the world can be correct all at the same time. Go and compare three of them from different countries. Try to explain how all of them are right at once. It's impossible and beyond all rational thought.

Or do you mean how people define religion? I am picky about how people use titles. I think you should practice the belief system - not just use the title. Which is why I don't think there can be such a thing as a Christian Witch. They cannot cohabitate. Christianity condemns Witchcraft. It's very simple. It irks me that people assemble labels for themselves out of comfort not because of truth. Decide what you believe in - don't pick and chose what you like. If you do pick and chose, don't label yourself as something that you're not.

I don't see it as a hard concept.

Each religion preaches that it is the one true faith and that unbelievers should be converted or killed. Also, religion has been so unfortunately ingrained into culture that it is very hard to get rid of. Simply put, all religious people are picky. I'm not stereotyping; its the truth.

No better reason on earth to be picky. It's a matter of life and death for your eternal soul. It's worth doing some heavy duty soul searching , praying, and researching to discover the truth, don't ya think?God bless!!

if religion is a way of life for a better life then I wish more people were actually more picky in what they learned and whether they knew how to apply themselves .

I don't know maybe because they are passionate about it or because they want to so desparately believe in something or their life would be meaningless that they will fight for it till the death even if they look stupid during the process. I asked a ? about religion and boy the answers that I got! Some people got carried away. You should read some of the answers! Relax people!!!!

you cant believe everything that some religion teaches. some do not preach the whole truth. some dont preach any truth. if your not grounded in the TRUTH it can be very easy to be led astray. the bible talks bout false teachers and prophets out in this world. this is why its important to be "picky" bout religion.

It's not more about personal convictions than a need for belongingness. Atheists, agnostics, Satanic gangs also group which doesn't make them quite different from any other religion. It's that feeling of belonging and that feeling of----yes we are right, and they are wrong. It's human.

Because we're all right, we're all wrong, or some are right and some are wrong, and some are going to hell (if it exists), and some are going to heaven (if it exists), and some will just be worm food. And to top it all off, none of us can ever really have the last say...it isn't like scrabble where you can grab a Websters and say "hey, told ya so".

It comes down to the accessories. Pick the wrong religion and you are stuck with accessories that just don't match.
