Only if your dad hasn't you listedon his insurance policy as a 2nd dary driver. Otherwise no. As far as your question about if you get caught, that may work but considering you are a new driver the cop will doubt you. Remember if you get in trouble driving now and you are nearly licensed youcould easily lose your license or get it suspended and will have to wait an extended amount if time before you can get it back. Is it worth it?

You heard wrong.
Your Dad's insurance has to specifically have your name added to the insurance policy, which they can only do if you live at the same address.
If you get stopped by the police, and there is no proof that your are insured, they could confiscate the car, and put you in jail.
If you get in a traffic accident, your father's insurance does not cover it, because you were driving, and you are not covered by your father's insurance. Depending on the damage and medical expenses to the other people, the financial implications could be severe.

I think you better not do the driving as insurance covered for the only person on that particular vehicle. UNLESS, ask your father to put your name in the insurance policies. That way, you are covered!

Unless your Dad has you on his policy or he has coverage that also covers anyone he lends his car to, no, you are not covered. The cops won't buy your story either. Doesn't matter why you are driving if you don't have insurance.

In most states, no you wouldn't be covered, especially if you live at the same address.

depends on your state - in PA if your dad lends you his car than he lends you his insurance - if you are driving your car without insurance (you have seen the safe auto commericals haven't you) you are SOL if your caught
