I am very glad that you have left JW's behind. That can be a very hard choice - and from those I talk to, life shattering. Especially if your family is in the cult.
I don't think it is so much from pride or stubborness, but instead fear of change.
Imagine growing up being taught from birth what was 'right'. The one true way. Your whole life is built around this. Even when presented with evidence that this is not right - you try desperately to explain it awy. To accept it means that you are turning away from everything you know.
In some cases it can be pride - thinking that you can survive on your own, that you don't need anyone. Or that you already know the 'truth' and you don't need to know anything else.
But in the vast majority of cases it is out of fear that change cannot be made.

Not so much. God has a way of convicting my heart and letting me know when I am not doing what I should be doing. I've been down the wrong road a few times and each time, He calls me back and reminds me of the blessings and salvation that lay ahead. I am thankful that He does this. I want to be right with God because frankly, I can't wait to meet Him at the pearly gates and give Him a big hug and kiss. God Bless

As a person interested in honesty, would have to say yes. I would hope that I would go through the phase of denial, regret, and acceptance if this were truly the case. As it is now, I feel I'm on the right path because life keeps getting better and better, and there is nothing I am ashamed of.

I'm a man and you know we never ask for directions.
All kidding aside, I'm happy that you have found the truth of God's grace. Don't spend too much time though speaking bad of the JW's. Just focus on your Bible study and move on praising God for leading you step by step to where He wants you to be. He loves to lead those who are truly seeking after the truth.

(Matthew 7:13-14) Spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.
See also Matthew 7:6.

It was agonizingly hard. I kept thinking I would find the information that would nullify all the bad things I was finding and would make it all right again. Instead, I just kept finding more and more significant reasons to leave. So I am a lemming no more.

No, though it would not come easy, change is rarely easy. If you ever knew anything about Witnesses, then you may know of how we have grown, having at one point celebrated such things as Christmas.
As for the rude comment about the answer beneath mine, asside from the link, the rest of the answer comes STRAIGHT from the Bible.

I do not see one answer by JWs!?
Maybe the words out that they should not answer you or you and your buds will tear em up word by word, line by line, precept by precept.
Isaiah 28: 10 & 13
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
&
13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
The JWs cherry pick and apply. Got to keep them honest. And when you do they run screaming (hands over ears) hahahaha.
hmmm.
A mistake gets us into trouble and pride keeps us there.

As humans we are prideful, not even really having to do with a certain church. We get our mind made up and it is difficult to admit we were wrong. We all struggle with this.

Pride and stubbornness would be the road, so other roads would indeed be blinded.
