Yes it does-- if you truly appreciate it. You have to be open to actually listening to it. For a long time I wasn't, but now I am and I love it.

In most cases, I have found classical music to be relaxing.
However, you should listen to various pieces of classical music and determine what you like best and what you find most relaxing. I am not overly experienced with classical music, but I have heard some pieces that are not at all relaxing and that is OK (since the composer probably wasn't aiming for that) but it just wouldn't be a selection I would want to relax to.

Yes, in fact there are studies that show that too. Many new parents play classical music when baby is still in mom and after being born for that calm. I believe the study said they could tell brain waves changed when people listened to the music.

It does. When your stressed, the beta waves in the brain cause problems and you need to slow down your heart rate and breathing. If you listen to classical music, you should be in a room thats quiet and just let the music take you away from your stress, relax the body and breath nice and easy, it works quite well.

Depends. Some people can calm down with screamo music. If you are able to feel relaxed if you listen to it, then it works for you. If not, you may need to try different music or do something else.
Try Yoga.. reading.. journaling..exercising.. cleaning.. basically whatever works for you.
