It takes years of training after University, Dental School and then Orthodontia School . Then the orthodontist has to pay for the equipment, his staff and their health care benefits as well as their paid time off if they decide to have a baby or disability insurance as well as office rent. After that he has to buy malpractice insurance. Yes you have to make deposit up front. The applying of the braces takes several appointments due to taking impressions of your teeth and then finally applying the brackets and wires. Each person has braces for different length of time but the average is 2 years. Dont worry though because if you study hard in school and get a good job you can have braces later on. Many countries do not have the orthodontia that exists in the US

Braces are expensive because it cost the doctor a lot of money to order the supplies needed to do all the work. The brackets, wires, and rubberbands cost alot of money. So to help cover the cost of all the supplies and office help the doctor needs to charge alot of money. I know at our office we have different payment plans. We have a plan that is thru CapitalOne credit card. You have to be approved and you get a limit and you pay the rest in monthly payments. Usually monthly payments are less then 200 dollars. Alot of times it cost under 1000 dollars to get started. It takes a couple weeks to get all your appointments set up before your braces can be put on.

Call around to the different Orthodontic offices and ask them what their policies are. They take a lot of technology and work and the Doctors have expensive training. It is not an uncomplicated thing. If you are old enough to get a weekend job, just start saving for your goals and when you are old enough to work more hours you might be able to save enough to get it done. saving is an important thing and very good to get something worthwhile like that.

Braces are expensive because orthodontist want to buy nice cars and expensive houses. Seriously. Your parents can make payments, I suggest they talk to the person at the doctors office about it. If they refuse, find another orthodontist. Another option, go to a dental school where you may be able to get them at a discount or even free.
