I own a shop, and in my years of experience I have found 99% of the time a wobbly steering is caused by something wrong with one of the wheels. Have a friend stand on the side of the street while you drive past. Have them watch to see if one, or both wheels are doing it. If it's just one, then suspect a loose wheel (nuts), warped rim, or a tire has a broken belt in it. If it's both of the wheels, then it is a mechanical problem with the front end such as a Idler arm, or pitman arm. I would not rule out the drag link, or tie rod ends, but in any case if both are wobbly, the vehicle is NOT safe to drive around the corner, much less anywhere that you must get up to any kind of speed. I have seen a front end come apart, the wheels both turn in, and the vehicle go end over end down the road. This is NOT something to be wondering about, but something to be concerned about. Find the cause, and do it right away, or park the vehicle until a mechanic can determine if it's safe to drive to a shop for repairs.
Glad to help out, Good luck!!!

go out and put your hands on top of one of the front tires, and feel all the way around the tire, repeat for the other tire. If you feel a bulge, or it just does not feel round then it's a bad tire, and that is the cause. A bent rim can cause this also. Finally if water managed to get inside the tire then it can cause the wobble at certain speeds. Oh almost forgot, that spray stuff that can repair a flat tire can cause it too if it was put into the tire multiple times....like 3 cans of it.
A lot of the answers above have been given a bad rating, but as far as I can see they all contain valid information, and do not really deserve what they got.

It depends on what you mean by "wobbly steering", but as another responder said, it could be serious.
About the only other thing that I can think of that could cause what you describe is a damaged or out-of-round tire, or possibly a bent rim.
Don't go anywhere fast, and be ready for anything as you drive to the nearest tire shop or mechanic ASAP!

Worn out front steering or suspension parts. If you hit a curb and bent something would also cause this. Get it checked as it could be a dangerous situation. Good luck.

Make sure you have the proper amount of air in your tires, my steering wheel was wobbling once and It was because there was a slow leak in one of my tires.. good luck.

Worn tie rods that could go at any time. Very dangerous you could loose control of steering if they totally break.
