Whether you like it or not, is there any sport that's more for sale? When the drivers talk about their cars, it's never "my car was running great", it's always "the number 23 Count Chocula Chevrolet was running great". The cars are covered in logos, and I've seen guys change caps two and three times during interviews. Even Earnhardt Jr., when announcing that he was leaving Budweiser, made sure to say "Budweiser will remain my beer of choice". I mean, come on!

I'm not talking about the fact that they say "THE car" instead of "MY car," I'm just talking about how every aspect of the sport seems to be trying to sell something. And I know it's other sports too, but NASCAR is one of the worst. But yes, I also hate corporate naming rights for stadiums and arenas and crap like that too. And yes, I know sponsorships help fund the sport, but some of it's just plain greed too. I just hope America's big three (MLB, NFL and NBA) never go to patches all over the uniforms like other countries have...

"Sorry about that, folks," said Darrell, returning to his seat in the announcers' booth. "I had to take a Taco Bell potty break, seems I've got a case of the Tabasco Brand Hot Sauce runs. Good thing we've got plenty of ultra-soft Charmin Bath Tissue in our Liquid-Plumr bathroom!"
It's an expensive sport and the sponsors pay the bills. Like it or not we're stuck with the incessant sponsor plugs. At least my favorite driver is no longer in the Viagra Taurus . . . .

It's called marketing, and any successful business does it & does it well. These guys have to keep their sponsors happy because this is a very expensive sport. Their primary income doesn't come from ticket sales. It comes from companies that want to advertise on the winning car. It sucks that everything has to be about the money, but once something becomes organized on a grand scale money is a huge motivation.

Well some of the numbers arent for sale. I mean they could be but NASCAR doesnt want some numbers to be for sale so theres one thing. I dont think there is anything wrong with it... I like the sponsors because without them there wouldnt be a sport really.

Its all about the teamwork, thats why they don't say 'My" car was running great. Teamwork is the key word here.
It took all kinds of people to get that car right.
The reason they change caps and whatnot, is it's all about the sponsorship, they are in a contractual agreement to mention the names of the companies that supply the money to the team and car and owner and race sponsors.
Here's one way to look at it;
No sponsors = no money
no money = no car
no car = no team
no team = well, we know what happens next.
As for Jr stating the comment on his choice of beer, well, I think that's what he likes to drink Bud. No doubt about that.
Teamwork rules!!!!!
I would also mention that Robby Gordon could be the only one to say "my car" since he is the team owner, car owner and driver, but he does mention his sponsors, when he gets tv airtime, occasionally. You thank your sponsors when they give you $$$$$$$$ to run.
AND, Kyle Petty too, Michael Waltrip doesn't count (sorta) his wife the Buf owns his car.

Most drivers don't own the cars they drive so it is not proper to say "my car...."
So what about the "computer" antimates advertisements behind homeplate in baseball,or the football coaches that have the "shoe" logo on their shirts.Haw about the BBall players and the focus on their shoes during the game.
Don't say NASCAR for sale say "SPORTS"

I am sure there are times the drivers are screaming in their brains trying to remember all the sponsors that they have to mention just to keep sponsors on the car...c'mon its a sponsor driven sport, we may not like it, but its what we have
