i know someone that said this. they said " i have done to much in my life for God to forgive me." they have fear and guilt so they wont approach God's throne. if they could just realize Jesus didnt die in vain! he died cause he knew we are sinners. i believe this is one of satan's darts that we are warned against. we have got to remember the love that God has for us. there is a scripture "nothing can keep us from God's love for us"

God puts that conviction in our bellies. He knows what's best for us. I do know that many run away and ignore His loving guidance. It takes a complete lack of "self" to take that first step - yet it's all about us, isn't it? Salvation, such a sweet elixir, when taken from the One whom gives it freely. I think embarrassment has a lot to do with why people don't accept an alter call. But once done - a whole new group of people, we call "family" come into your life and love you no matter what! Try it! You will not be disappointed! katiefish <><

I think we are naturally afraid of the unknown. When coming to God we are not exactly sure what is going to happen. We hear other Christians talk about how wonderful it is, but until we actually experience it we have no understanding. There is really nothing in this world to compare to knowing Him. Some feel that they have gone too far, that God could never forgive them also.

Ok. this i can personally take part in. i have a friend who as a kid used to go to church regularly, but stopped cold turkey and wont talk about it. meanwhile, my dad said my stepmom has had some "bad church experiences" and my friends parents make the same claim. ive invited people to church and they claim, "they dont like church" or a specific part of a typical church experience. its something that has happened b4 preventing them from going again. Maybe a friend invited them and then their relationship went sour. maybe a rather cruel or angry sunday school teacher. my best guess.

Actually, my view is this. Those who pray to imaginary creature / creatures which they THINK they will be forgiven by these creature / creatures are the ones who had no shame. They create "sin(s)" openly, do all sorts of vice then ask for pardon and they THINK they can continue to do these vices because they will automatically be forgiven and they have no sin after that.

Some give it to god, but hide it from everybody else, You know, the deacon of your church up the street. Do you really know him? Forgiveness is funny. It's so easy to ask forgiveness from god. It's much harder to ask it from someone you wronged.

I would agree with you. I think also it's because some people haven't acknowledged that still, small place inside our hearts that is naturally connected to the Father-Son-Holy Spirit.

Yes, I agree - they do not approach God, because they do not realise that Jesus Christ loves them and wants to pour His grace into their lives, if only they would repent and believe.
