I have a six year old daughter, and she keeps pooping on herself. When she has to pee, she will go to the bathroom. I have tried all kind of things to get her to stop it. She is getting ready to go to the first grade and I do not want the other kids to be picking on her about it...so please help!

Well 1st start by getting pullups so you dont have messy pants and undies. Dont make her feel bad about the situatiation even as early as this her selfasteem can be changed. It may be fustrating but talk to her about it once and make sure she does not have a medical problem. Talk to the doc. If she is fine start to reasure her and praise her when she goes to the potty and ask her every so often if she needs to go.

first off you should take her to a doctor. see what they have to say. then you should buy her pull-ups or diapers of some kind to prevent any dirty panties. you should talk to her future teacher about her problem. let her know what's going on. have the teacher take her to the potty in between classes. if all else fails, try potty training her again. it might be hard but if you can keep her clean it's worth it. also make her go potty at home whenever possible. keeping her empty will help a little. don't feel bad. my sister wet her pants twice a day until she was 12. my parents would spank her constantly but it wouldn't work, so DON'T spank her. good luck. i hope this helps.

Well, if you're sure there's no medical reason why she can't poop in the bathroom, try to figure out why she's doing it. Has there been a big change like moving, divorce, or family death? Does she need the attention? More than likely, it's something like that. I am a school nurse, and it almost always turns out to be attention.

Take her to a counselor. There may be things you may not know about psychologically that may be causing her to do this. To be honest, if she has been potty trained and started to do this after some point, this is a symptom of abuse, usually sexual abuse.

I don't mean to scare you, but this is what I've been told by someone who had this same problem with a 6 year old, and the child was sent to a counselor, and the counselor said this is a symptom of that.

wow, six is to old to be doing that! I think my two kids at the age of one started to use the bathroom by themselves and even wipe their own behind. I think you really got to teach her because by the time she goes to school o 'boy she is really going to have hurt feelings! Just tell her to pooping in the pants is just bad and nasty that when her classmates smell it they would smell it and will point at her and if that's what she wants is embarrassing I think she would understand Good luck

If she can respond to the biological needs of pee, it's not a problem of discipline. Either she has a colonary problem or an unresolved emotional issue. It definitely is a problem that needs more than Yahoo Answers to reconcile. Have you approached professionals about this?

Maybe the other kids picking on her is what she needs.

Has anyone heard the new country song by Bucky Covington- he talks about those of us at a certain age turning out alright- If this child had been of my generation one day at school with others kids knowing you pooped your pants -I'm sure cured a couple of kids- and did not bother their self esteem a BIT!

1. Have her checked out by her pediatrician.
2. Rule out any psychological reasons for her pooping.
3. Reward her for poop-free days with a special outing, praise her when she's poop-free.

i knew a guy - my best friend actually - that shat himself well into first grade. people started to ostracize him, and he stopped.

it became a weak point, though. I remember getting into a fight with him and saying "at least i don't carry a sandbag in my pants." i still feel bad about it, even though he in no way has brought it up since.

i also think that the issue is a huge taboo - something we all know happened but never mention - and likely a sore psychological point.

good luck

Speak to her Dr, it sounds like she may have a medical problem. She obviously does not have a problem using the bathroom
