Super Chee
Great link. It also details the epidemic of border state hospital uncompensated care because of illegal aliens.
I especially liked the Border State Uncompensated Care information near the bottom. It gives a lot of facts and stats about the REAL cost of illegal aliens health care, that a lot of people probably didn't know.
The best solution is to deport them, rather than having them be reinbursed by ANY governmental agency.
This was a nice link to supplement all the other ones given explaining illegal immigration's cost to hospitals...and is the very reason they have been closing in hospitals across the nation.

I live in Arizona, not LA but a border state. I am also in the Health Care field, that I know of there have been no hospital closures, there are about 37 hospitals in the State, two were finished in Phoenix in the last couple of years, Estrella Banner and West Valley Hospital. Here is MY link.

Don't Just say "no"...I challenge you denying that illegal immigration is not causing hospitals to close in L.A., or anywhere else for that matter, to provide some links...if you really expect people to believe you!!!!
Dirty Martini...don't pay summermoondancer any mind...she actually tried to convince people that someone stealing and using a Social Security number is NOT identity theft, and people don't really get in trouble for it unless they "use your name also".
I only hope some poor sap doesn't actually believe the drivel coming from her posts!!!

This is common sense people. The people saying no, say it really quickly and offer no links, 3 people so far...
Those telling the truth...and it is FACT that hospitals are closing across the nation due to illegal immigration are providing LINKS...4 people that provide links
I hope no one honestly believes the people claiming it's not true here...

Yes, it's true.
One of the frequent costs to U.S. taxpayers is delivery of babies to illegal alien mothers. A California study put the number of these anchor baby deliveries in the state in 1994 at 74,987, at a cost of $215 million. At that time, those births constituted 36 percent of all Medi-Cal births, and they have grown now to substantially more than half or the annual Medi-Cal budget. In 2003, 70 percent of the 2,300 babies born in San Joaquin General Hospital’s maternity ward were anchor babies. Medical in 2003 had 760,000 illegal alien beneficiaries, up from 2002, when there were 470,000.9

We are going to have to hold them accountable too. The next time THEY start screaming, where's your proof, where's your link. Not a single one of them provided any links here. They thought they would say a quick "no" and that's the end of it. Why even bother respond? Their credibility is zip now.
I am saving this link for use in the future. There are a few people that responded to this post that it will come in handy against.

Probably so, just like in many areas, including mine. They are going broke from treating the illegal criminal aliens that do not pay their bills. My local hospital closed last year for that reason. Very unfortunate.

Most of the hospital closures in California are caused by undocumented workers.
Undocumented workers and their children are shown to be using L.A.'s hospitals just as much as Americans use them. The problem is the hospitals are not able to collect payments from undocumented workers.
Democrats in California (and one RINO named Arnold Schwarzenegger) want to give free health care to undocumented workers.
Some supporters of the "California Health Insurance Reliability Act":
Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, Los Angeles
California Immigrant Welfare Collaborative
Services, Immigrant Rights and Education Network (SIREN), Santa Clara County
La Raza Roundtable, San Jose

idk personally but it makes sense. Illegal immigrants don't pay taxes and are a huge strain on the health care system. Its a situation where u either let the person die, or go into debt trying to help them. In a place like LA with many illegal immigrants, there can be a huge amount of these cases and i wouldn't be surprised if it caused a hospital or two to close.

Yes absolutely it is ONE reason.
Bad Debt and Charity Care is a huge expense on many hospitals. It is the law--whether for profit or not for profit--EmergencyRooms cannot turn away any emergency seeking care. Their ability to pay is not an issue if it is an emergency.
And since most illegals are neither insured nor loaded with cash...............BAD DEBT. CHARITY CARE.
Also--thank the California Nurses Association and those mandated ratios. Oh yeah they sound good. Until those ratios are applied across the Board and consistently without any logic applied. Sorry, but in a pscyh unit, do you really need the same nurse-patient ratio at night.....when patients are medicated and asleep....as you do during the day when they are awake? NO. Get real.
Summer Moondancer, whatever your name is....what the heck do you know about healthcare financing? "Lack of fiscal responsibility"?
How funny!~ BWWWAAAaaa...............LOL*
