My son worked for Regal movies at location A, but quit due to mangers promising the moon and giving him nothing. He was rehired by location B last Monday. He was told last Thursday that since he was not in the computer yet, he would not get paid on Friday July 27. My husband and I told him I was going with him to speak with his manger. The manger refused to speak with me, but an asst. told my son and I that the manger stated he will get paid on Friday.
Well, checks come in on Thursday--guess what no check-- and on top of that another asst. manger called my home tonight around 7pm looking for my son- who was due at work for 6pm. Mean mistake!
When I talked with my son around 8pm he told me that they don't know when he will be paid- maybe next Friday or maybe he will get two check in two weeks.
I think I should call this manger up and tell them they need to print my son his check and fedex it from TN.
Any options----

Regal pays every two weeks- July 27 is the next payweek that ended July 19. My son stated that he may get a get next week or maybe two checks on Aug 10.

call the human resources and get all the facts. when he started working, how many hours he worked so far and when the exact payday is. if he hasn't been getting paid like he's supposed to then it's time to go the higher authority, whoever that may be. if they're still playing around then get legal help. your son needs to take note of all the discrepancies and will have to be reported. good luck. how old is your son, by the way? can't you let him handle this for now before you get in the scene?

Well if your son likes the job and the people, I would give them 1 more pay period to work this out. I mean some times it takes companies a little bit to get things right in their systems. That's just how it goes from time to time. There should be a contact for human resources with the company your son works for. He, not you, should call them and ask what the problem is and what is going on with his check. This can be a great learning experience for him as to how to deal with issues at the work place. He should be the one to be calling and pressuring the manager to get things lined out. If this issues does not get resolved within one pay period I say quit and tell them that he will be by to pick up all of his due pay when the checks come in again or you can file suite. That way he is does not have to work with an unprofessional company and they will get there act together if it gets so bad that he has to quit and threaten to sue them. Good Luck!

If your son is 18, you should be letting him deal with this. It's not unusual for paychecks to be held back a week or two if you just started working, even if it's just a different location of the same company.
You say someone called your house at 7 looking for your son who was supposed to work at 6, and you call this a "mean mistake"? what does that mean??? Was he supposed to work, or what??
If your son is an adult, HE doesn't need his mommy to take care of it for him.

This seems like a fairly ordinary occurrence, as I am a department manager and know per most company policies all the appropriate paperwork must be completed and filed before an employee gets paid. This includes providing ID, Social Security card, providing your manager with the hours you've worked if you don't have a time card yet, etc. I honestly have never heard of a new hire getting a paycheck within their first pay period.

Stay out of it. You don't want your son to cause his managers to have a bad taste in their mouths from the get-go.

Unless he needs that money to live on I'd let it slide. It doesn't sound as if they are trying to cheat him out of money he earned already. Just that it may take a little bit longer to get that money to him.

If it does turn out that next week he still has not received the money for those hours I'd go in and raise some heck with them.

As a mother you have every right to be concern. It's important to monitor this situation, because you don't want your son to make a foolish mistake. I think it is best to ask your son if you can help him with this dilemma. Hopefully he'll agree to have your assistance.

You may want to consult with another Regal company and explain your son's pediment. My advice is not to have your son to work there anymore. There's now bad blood involve and no one is going get over this situation if he stays. Another option is threaten to sue them and report them to Better Business Bureau.

God bless

You are overprotecting your son, and you are going to create a wimp. Let him take care of this problem. This is not your place. If he is old enough to work, he should be able to handle things like talking to his manager.
I have dealt with teens for years, and I can guarantee that you are making a mistake.

Well, that depends on the age of your son and whether you want him to learn to stand up for himself or have others deal with his issues. Its a good lesson in responsibility to let him deal with it on his own. If he chooses not too then he must not be bothered too much by it!!! You are not going to be there forever to take care of him and he will gain more and have more self respect if he does it himself!!!

You need to stay out of it. Let him handle it. and a week hold on a check for an hourly employee is realistic.

yes seems like this place is taking advantage of your son . You need to complain to the corporate office and see if anything can be done and also tell your son to get another job . this is ridiculous. I wish you luck .
