Yeah; the things I used to worry about weren't worth worrying about.
99% of the stuff I feared would happen didn't.
Life is short - extract from it all the juice you can - there's plenty of time in your old age to have regrets about the 'bad' things you did but you'll more likely regret the things you didn't do.
Do everything you can at least once so's you can comment from a practical standpoint.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes - if we waited till we could do something perfectly we'd never do a thing.
That'll do for now.
I should write a book.

Oh man, more things than I can recount or even remember.
Mainly, that people are decent to each other. Maybe I grew up in an unusual household, extended family, neighborhood, school distrct as a child, but everyone was decent to everyone else. politeness was a standard, and problems and issues were taken care of by the neighborhood, not calling the cops at every backfiring car or loud teenager.
You can't really say it's an age thing - I'm not that old.
I found out that a lot of people do nasty things to each other just because they can after I moved to a new state and new neighborhood as a teenager. the prime one I remember is the girl I used to babysit - 4 years old - was kidnapped and killed and dumped in a campground outhouse by a stranger.
If I had any idealistic views, they went away then.

1) Life is precious.
2) Saying "I love you" can have the most remarkable effect at times.
3) Never hate another human being.
4) Never listen to religious people - most religions preach hate more than they do love, they just don't admit it.
5) Cultivate goodness in your heart every day and use that as a guide to all things.
6) Always be kind and gentle with all children.
7) Money is just a man-made tool. Most people who hoard money ARE tools. Life uses a different currency.
8) No matter how good or how lousy things are, nothing is permanent in this life.

I will turn 40 in September and age has taught me so much! I wont bore everyone with all the gorey details but the biggest thing I learned was to not let fear dictate my choices in life. I know that sounds like a "duh" sort of answer but I have realized that fear is sneaky and it works it's way into your heart, mind, and soul and starts wrecking your dreams before you know you've been afflicted. My father and mother used to tell me I could do anything if I just "put my mind to it." I always rolled my eyes and thought, "whatever." But they were so right. It was so true. I was always afraid to do things because I was afraid of failing but I have only just realized in the last few years that it's in the trying and the failing that you learn and grow. There's nothing there to fear as long as you learn and grow. That the world will NOT end if you fail.

Age and experience has tought me, the more I learn, the more questions I have. As far as the one thing I used to think was true. That would be I thought the Democrats were working for America.

You can only spend so much time on regrets and worrying what others might think of you. The most important thing is to do more moving forward and less moving back.

I used to believe that every issue could be divided into black & white, and now I see that everything is just infinite shades of gray.
(oh, and by age ten I also knew gods were imaginary.)
