um... because it's true? its not meant as an insult, it's a statement of fact. it is well supported by a large body of scientific research. it should be simple in this modern age for you to find out about the science.
no, humans are not closely related to dogs or lions although they are all mammals, so we do have a common ancestor at some distant point in the past, probably more than 100 million years ago. there are many ways for animals to survive and reproduce - indeed, the fossil record indicates that the number of species that have ever lived on earth outnumbers modern species by at least a thousand to one. of all those species, humans are just one (or if you like, a handful of species along the line from our common ancestor with chimps) - there is no indication that humans are inevitable, predestined, or specially created. simply put evolution doesn't predict that all species should become human so the fact that this doesn't happen is irrelevant to whether or not evolution happens.

My life is not eaten up with concern whether we evolved from apes or if two sky daddies dumped us off. We are classed as Primates and have been walking upright for around three million years so scientists say. The earth itself is about four billion years. The last ice age receeded about ten thousand years ago, then there was a population explosion of coure, and men began to swarm upon the earth, then great civilizations began to grow. Where we came from isn't the important thing right now, where earth is headed, is.
Why can't people admit that they just don't know, and deal with the things at hand. Maybe Global warming for instance.

Only those who are atheists believe in the foolish evolution theory. A true child of God knows that there's nothing but nonsense in believing humans evolved from Apes. It clearly opposes the Word of God. I'm not going to preach, but God created the world and all people, and animals. God gave man dominion over animals...so there's no way we evolved from animals. And the people who believed they evolved from animlas really need help. You said it right no one wants to hear these lies about evolution.

Smirk, you just made the best comment ever! I'm going to be a fan. Anyways, the scientists/rationalists do this because they don't want a world full of delusional people. With technology comes atheism (because the smarter we are the more it takes to convince us).
Go think about something else that isn't a strain on your brain.

You should do a little more research on the subject before talking about it like this. The common belief is not that we "came from animals". Take some time to read up on the scientific theories, and then decide what your stance on it is, but don't go disparaging it. It may end up being the truth, whether you believe it or not.

The truth is harder to swallow than the sugarcoated god pill.
Like the other folks said, you are going to sound really ignorant if you ask such dumb questions in a demeaning tone and without doing your homework on the topic first.

I am literally this close to crying. Yes Virginia, there are stupid questions.
No fossil, anotomical, or DNA evidence suggests humans and lions or dogs have a "recent" common ancestor. The evidence that we and apes have a common anscestor is pretty convincing.

If you want to completely ignore the science involved then go right ahead. Feel free to believe whater you want. However don't ask others to explain what you're not willing to research for yourself.

Ask this in the science area. They can answer this better than people here.
