It was over in a month. Given the lack of preparedness, would say the French made it very easy for the Germans.
They did not have such a good time with the French resistance or in Yugoslavia or in Russia however. Lets see, Holland - invaded May 10th 1940, that following June the Wehrmacht and luftwaffe reduced the French defenses and outfought several armies. It did not help that roads were choked with fleeing refugees, mobilization was late in coming and much of the French leadership was ready to re fight the First World War, despite what was witnessed in Poland, Norway, Denmark, and Holland.

It took about six weeks. The key was to know the weaknesses in the Maginot Line, which was this fortified "wall" built by the French. The German planners received some assistance in this matter from a book written by a French officer which told one how to breach this line. His name was Lieutenant Colonel Charles De Gaulle and he went on to be the first President of France in the post-war Fifth Republic.

I think it took less than six weeks,
The thing to remember is that the attacker gets to pick and choose where to attack, the allies didnt know when and where the blow would fall.
Also remember blitzkrieg was a new form of warfare and as such proper countermeasures hadnt yet been developed to counter such mobile warfare.
As soon as the germans got behind the french defences the french defencive plan was in tatters.
Just look at how the invasion of france and the battle of the bulge went(fuel considerations aside),
Both were suprise attacks and both went through the ardenne,One was succesful and one wasnt.

The French put there faith in a huge line of forts and works known as the Maginot line. The Germans just went around it. It took a matter of weeks for France to fall. They did not want war and because of that all their preparations were defensive in nature.

It took the Wehrmact 4 weeks to humble their traditional foe.... After the breakthrough at Sedan by the 7th Panzer Division (under Rommel), that's all she wrote.. the French generals and soldiers did not have the same mettle as in the previous war.
