There are pesticides in the collar that kill the fleas, and the stuff mostly doesn't work on the fleas but can harm the dogs. The collars should NOT be chewed on or broken, and they should not be gotten wet (the chemicals leach right out onto the dog's skin and can act as a poison).
For flea control I'd really REALLY recommend Advantage or Frontline, because those do work and you only need to do it once every so often. The box says once a month, but I've seen from experience that it takes 8-10 weeks (almost 2 1/2 months) for fleas to reappear, so you do get longer coverage with one treatment than they suggest. The fewer chemicals you put on your dog the better.

Flea collars are useless, all they do is keep flea's away from the head, and make sure if you decide to use them, check the age on them alot of products that are over the counter are 10-12 weeks and up. And i wouldn't use them anyways if the puppies play together, and they discover this thing around each others necks, the first thing they are gonna do is chew at it.. Flea collars contain pesticides, and can make your pet's sick, it will give the warnings on the box, i would look into another product preferably from your vet, that is safe for there age and size at the moment....

Flea collars are useless.
Get Advantage or whichever one of those top brands are approved to be used on puppies that age. Double check with the vet, and make sure to get the correct package!

No I dont think it would unless they swallowed an excessable amount of the flea collar but I do know that flea collars dont work I use Adam's shampoo and it works wonders because the main ingrediant is menthol which poisons the fleas.

most wouldn't suggest a flea collar for puppies that young. i think they advise them to be around 3-4 months before using any kind of flea prevention. also flea collar don't work much should you dog actually get fleas as it usually only works for the from part of the dog around the neck and shoulders and not the rear

I work in a vet clinic, and we see dogs come in with different reactions to flea collars. It ranges from dry/brittle hair to hair loss; skin irritations/infections; even hotspots. If a puppy chews on a plastic collar filled with chemicals, you can be it isn't good for it.
As already mentioned, use Frontline or Advantix. And dont forget the Heartgard....not only is it a heartworm preventative, it is also effective agains hookworms and roundworms. (2 types of intestinal parasites)

It can make them sick. It's a poison for fleas so, I would have to say yes. Talking to a vet about front line and advantage are your two best options. That way you can put it on and the grease is gone in three days. It doesn't make them sick though it could. But in three days that stuff is in their system and it's no worry about them chewing it off. Plus it will last longer. But if you go the way of a tub of front line or advantage, make sure to use the correct poundage dose and the right age group, or they will get sick.

They make flea collars for puppies you just have to look on the backs of them to see. But as for them chewing on them my dogs used to take there collars off and play with them and there just fine.

flea collars smell AWFUL, plus they don't work. it might be harmful to your dogs if they chewed on them, so I wouldn't suggest putting it on them.
Instead, I suggest frontline or this stuff (I don't know what it's called, but it is shaped like a dog bone and you can buy it at any local grocery store (I get it at meijer, but I don't know if that's nationwide or not) It really works, and it's what I put on my dogs and cats. They have puppy stuff for puppies.)

Do not use them. Some dogs are very allergic to them. Check out this site http://hartzvictims.org Once you are on the site, click on Top 10 on the left side of the page!!!
