Which is the better way to commute-- by bicycle, bus, train, or car?

They all have advantages and disadvantages.

Cheapest ... bicycle
Fastest ... helicopter
Safest ... varies ... not the bicycle if you on same roads as motorized vehicles
most convenient ... car except where traffic is murder
most restful ... bus or train, depending on condition of road / tracks and air conditioning

It depends on where you're going or how far. You wouldn't want to commute 40 miles by bike. You wouldn't want to take the car if it is constant back-ups on the route or there is no place to park. You wouldn't want to take the bus if it would be shorter to walk there than the bus getting there. And you wouldn't want to take the train if the schedule doesn't fit or it would take forever to get there. In other words, each individual has his or her own benefits from each method of commuting based on his or her unique situation. If all three were available, I would probably go: bicycle; train; bus; car.

I would say car, because you can stop when you want to stop or leave when you want to leave. When riding a bicyle I fell you have limits to your commute because you might get tried before you get there and with a bus or train you are on someone elses time.

I have to do a combination of both to go to work, and to get back home. Bus to train. Train to bus.

I like to take my bike to a bus stop and place the bike on the bus's rack. Let the bus do the major traveling for me and bike to where I need to go.

i would choose car because you have your own privacy and you can stop whenever you want to and you dont have to do much work.
