ok heres the deal.
like 30 mins ago me and my friends where skateboarding in out neighboor hood.
like we did for 2-3 years.

the police rode beside us, interrupting my talk on religion, and said there has been a complaint on skateboarding in the street.
and...
the next time we are caught skating there will be a charge...

does this make sense?? Are we suppose to stay inside on videogames all day and not go out and skate??

If you are in a city, there is most likely an ordinance regarding skateboarding or rollerblading. I have seen ordinances that cover use on streets, sidewalks, public lots, etc. My State has a State Law covering skateboards on the street I believe (not one I ever mess with).

Like other posters said, call the department and politely ask for the specifics on the law. Ask for the Ordinance or State law code and you can even look it up yourself in the library. Ask them if there is a skate park or other place where you can skate. Most cities where I live built skate parks so they could direct kids to a safe place.

It doesn't matter if there are no sidewalks in the area. You need to find out if there is a law or ordinance preventing people from skateboarding in the street. The charge he's referring to is most likely a fine. It's your job to know where you can skateboard and not. And no... The cop is not telling you to stay inside all day. Thinking that is just a little too much whine with your cheese.

There may be a local skateboard park where you can go. Our neighborhood has one. A lot do now.

The society you are growing up in is an oppressive one now. When I was growing up cops still kinda protected and served. Now they just protect and serve...(who's interests are being served here though, the people, or the corprate state which these thugs work for?)

Sorry, but they can do whatever they want, if it bugs you like it bugs me, dont go in and play video games. Ask questions. Question authority. Ask him to show you the statute or law that says you cannot skate where you where skating. Take it easy though, if they think you are being smart (as oppossed to the people they would rather deal with "stupid") they will make your life hell.

Welcome to the land of the free. You have been duped!

I seriously doubt the officers were trying to be curmudgeons (ha...I love that word), they were probably just looking out for your safety or maybe a cantankerous neighbor complained about noise level...are there any other places you can skateboard?

Check your local state, county and city laws.

Skateboarding may be illegal on public streets in your city or county.

That doesn't mean the law makes sense -- just that it exists.

find somewhere else to skate, im thinking the cops told you you cant skateboard there anymore because there are no sidewalks and a car could run over you.

so i suggest you listen to the cop or you'll be in JAIL

CALL THE POLICE DEPT. ASK FOR THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND TELL HIM WHAT HAPPENED.

ASK HIM WHERE YOU CAN SKATEBOARD.

WE HAVE GREAT COPS. SOME WILL EVEN BUILD YOU A PLACE TO SKATE..

I KNOW SO BECAUSE THEY DID IT FOR OUR KIDS IN OUR TOWN.

MAYBE YOU ARE THE ONE TO GET THE BALL TO ROLLING FOR ONE...GO FOR IT!!!

check the city ordinances of your city - if there is one yes he can, it's for your safety -- take it to an empty parking lot or something like that
