I have tried craigslist.com and the newspaper, but I want a store that I can actually check out. Help!!

Try looking at all the thrift stores. They have alot of wedding dresses for a good price out here where I live at.
Also try ebay they have some used ones sometimes they can be a little pricey but you just never know.

look for consignment or 2nd hand formal ware shops in the phone book. also check goodwill and the salvation army.
i know you mentioned really wanting to be able to see what you are buying but... if you don't mind buying from the internet...
