It is not all about words. There are many Christians who leave home and comfort to serve others. I am far from home and have served as Pastor, Missionary and Teacher.

You see, that is where you are wrong. You are not alone because we have a mass amount of people here on R&S and elsewhere that keep beating this horse of "if God is love...what about the people who have never heard, etc." During the Great tribulation (when all Christians are no longer on earth, but in heaven) "Salvation" will be offered...but only to those who have "never heard" or had proper chance to receive Christ. These people are who Jesus is referring to in Revelation 7:14 ). So if the Holy Spirit is no longer around to convict man and all Christians are gone, then who will be witnessing the Word of God to these people? Scripture answers this: It will be the 144,000 sons of Israel (Rev.7:4 ), the two witnesses who lie dead in the streets for 3 and a half days and no man will move to bury them in graves. People will rejoice over their dead bodies ( because they are from God ) but in 3 and a half days God will breathed the spirit of life into them and they will raise up and a remnant that is alive who did not believe shall witness this and give God glory
( Revelation 11:7-11 ), and the angels of God will minister unto the people ( Rev.14:6 ). But to all those who have heard, have rejected God and wound up in the Great tribulation you are forever doomed to believe a lie because God will give you over to strong delusion ( 2 Thessalonians 2:11). Because you love sin and rejected the Lord there is no more chances or sacrifice for your sin ( Hebrews 10:26-27 ). I really don't want you to keep fighting against this before you find out for eternity that Christianity is so much more than words.

Our former preacher & his family used to be missionaries in Chile for many years. My dad's church sponsors missionaries in Kenya (Africa), and that's where his preacher used to be a missionary. They also sent groups of people on mission trips to Honduras twice, to help the local people build houses.

Please don't falsely judge Christians when you don't have any facts to back up your statements. You can never know all the good works that Christians do all over the world, if you don't congregate with them.

EDIT: First, your questions was why don't "they" leave the comforts of home and go to where people suffer. So we give overload you with answers. NOW you're changing your question to direct it at us???

OK, I have been donating blood at the Red Cross, since I was old enough to. (I've donated 42 pints so far.) On two separate occasions (2003 and 2005), I cut off 10" of my hair and donated it to Locks of Love (www.locksoflove.org -- they make custom wigs for children who don't have any hair due to a disease.) My husband volunteered one day a week at church for many years (until we had to change to a closer church recently).

Your turn -- now I'm talking about YOU. (or will we just get more of your blah, blah, blah?)

Actually, my memory of reading answers in this forum tells me that when asked to *prove* the existence of God, most Christians do not turn to their bibles but instead point to creation, saying there has to be a creator; or they say they don't need proof because believe comes from faith. It's only when people ask things like, "If god is so (great, merciful, omniscient) or whatever, then why did he do such and such?" Then they pull out their bibles, which would seem justified, given the nature of the question.

some christians do go to third world places and help and spread the world.
The sad thing is some of them are hypocrites; they only do it to make other people think that they are good people. But you don't have to be like that, set a new trend!
The bible is a guidline, like a crucial instruction for building something. The words are on the paper, but once you understand it, you can make anything!
Christianity is deep............ try it -you'll see! x x

What do you think missionaries do, sit home and fret about how much they could be helping people in other countries? No, they go there, and they set up schools and churches and medical clinics. More than any of us, they put their proverbial money where their mouths are.

Also, I do not think it is fair to characterize all Christians as all talk and no substance. Yes, you see a lot of words in this forum. What you *don't* see are all the Christians who volunteer in soup kitchens and nursing homes, who volunteer their time and their vehicles to drive people to doctor's appointments and such who lack transportation, who prepare funeral luncheons for families suffering the loss of a loved one, and on and on. Serious Christians are mindful of Christ's admonition, "Whatsoever you do to these least ones, you do to me."

Not everyone has the ability to speak to large crowds or the physical makeup to live in a remote part of the world. I'm sure that anyone who really believes and actually knows enough to rub off on others will. As a parable, Imagine a towel, there are towels that are dry, towels that are somewhat damp, towels that is extremely wet but not wet enough to make other towels wet, towels that can make others somewhat damp and there are towels who can make other towels extremely wet. The towel is a parable for wise people and the water is a parable for wisdom. You have to have enough wisdom about god to be able to pass it on.

So you're saying Christians are only "real" if they go to another country to be missionaries?

Do you know how many missionaries are serving overseas right now? Do you know how many of them are supported by Christians here at home?

There are those who are meant to go into the mission field overseas...there are those who are meant to be teachers, pilots, artists, parents......we are not all called to do the same work.

Besides, the mission field in America is probably the single largest challenge....

How can you say what is in men's hearts? How can you tell men what God's plan is for their life? I know ALOT of "Christians" who are really not.....but the TRUE Christians you can tell they are by their love. The Bible says the world will know us by our love....
Now, as for me...I am not "suffering" in Africa somewhere...but I know God's will for my life is to serve my family - here at home as a wife and mother of 4 children - teaching them morals and truth. My husband is called to run our business here at home. My life is not just words....Jesus Christ is real to me and is working in my life and my husbands life. I hope that helps. Not all believers in Jesus Christ must whip themselves and sell all they have to prove that Christianity is real. However, I think MANY people proclaiming to be "Christians" don't really understand what that means...it's about love...remember that.

We have to live our life we need keep our jobs in order to go and become missionary's. How do you expect someone to help another person if they have no money to even get them a glass of water or loaf of bread. You mention something about suffering, well just to let you know God doesn't want us to suffer he is our father and wants the best for his children and we do what we can.

But we DID come from far away, farther than you will ever believe. We don't have our lives on the line, as we never die. When we are through with this lifetime, we will go on to bigger and better things. It is far beyond words the pain we have endured when we didn't have to, but, because of love for our Lord and our fellow man, we did, and we do, and we will yet. We had it so much better where we are from, every breath here is torture in comparison, but we come in peace and love. Yes, for you too.
