How in the h-e-l-l does this happen? How could this excuse possibly be believable? What do you think really happened? Ideas on prosecution?

CONCORD, Calif. -- A man was arrested Wednesday night after he mistakenly left his 11-month-old son in a hot car while he went to work in Concord. The boy was found dead more than six hours later.

Police said 46-year-old Danny Takemoto has been booked on suspicion of felony manslaughter.

Takemoto told police that he forgot to drop off the child at a day care center and instead drove to work Wednesday morning. His wife phoned him shortly before 3:30 p.m. to ask where their son was, prompting Takemoto to race out to the SUV and find the baby's lifeless body.

The temperature in Concord reached 87 degrees, but would have been much higher inside the vehicle.

Authorities said an autopsy likely will be conducted Thursday.

Under California law, leaving a child age 6 or younger alone in a vehicle is a citable offense.

My God how awful and sad so so very sad. This breaks my heart when I hear of such negligence. But I do honestly believe that there is a slight possibility that this really does happen. People are exhausted always running trying to beat the clock. They are programed and almost robotic. He could have had a large project on his mind and the pressure from work, perhaps boss on his back and he was trying to beat the clock. Cell phones ipods PCs all running at the same time. There is a slim chance that he honestly thought he dropped off the baby? Stress can really do weird things to you when the pressure cooker is on. (No Punn intended) :(
Only he and God really knows. If this was premeditated or accidental either way he will pay for his mistake or crime one way or another. All I can offer is my prayers to that little Innocent baby and the Mother and all the broken hearts from this tragic misfortune.
God Bless you and keep you comforted during this time of sorrow and grief.
Peace

I live Las Vegas, its happened here several times ,and you know what the temp. gets here,I just don't buy the excuses, but I can't remember one case prosecuted, here you get in more trouble leaving a dog or cat in a car than a child and that is sick and shows the mentality of our law makers, you just don't forget about your child like that and I don't care what anyone says,if you do you have no business being a parent!!

I could see this being believable if it wasn't usually his responsibility to drop the child at daycare. Horrible, horrible thing to have happen but so many of us go on auto pilot in the mornings.

There is no excuse in the world to explain that. How could you forget your child is in the car with you? I don't understand it because when my kids are in the car with me, I'm always looking at them to see what they are doing? Either I look at them through my rear view mirror or I am turning my head to take quick peeks at them. I don't get it. Maybe in a crazy sick way this guy wanted this to happen. There are a lot of people in this world that shouldn't be having kids.

Yo, when you busy and you be doin' something out of routine (like maybe da mom usually drops off da baby), maybe da baby be quiet in the back seat... it doesn't happen to most people, but it still happens to otherwise good parents. I feel bad for them. It's recommended that you keep something important in the back seat with the baby (apart from the baby itself) so such occurrences don't be happening, yo. Some people do it on purpose probably, but it happens accidentally just as well. I read a letter from a guy who was responsible for his baby's death after leaving him in the car. It was heartbreaking. Read the stories from parents before judging:

This happens when people don't take their responsibilities seriously. Obviously, something at work was more important than his child.

Because a lot of people are extremely stupid idiotic fools and are so self absorbed they cannot see straight. This happens more often than it should.
