But Cliffstout, the Catholic Church has no teaching on the use of condoms outside of marriage.

Run James Run: Thank you for the links. I agree "there is no justification for the Vatican or anyone lying about condoms." Cardinal Trujillo's views are Cardinal Trujillo's views, not the Vatican's. (Why are Cardinal Trujillo's views interpreted as the Vatican's, but Cardinal Cottier's or Cardinal Daneels' aren't?)

well i'd say HIV is mostly spread by drug addicts and sexual degenerates. most religious folk do neither of those. abstience will not cause hiv either.
i know lefties love to lie about whose fault aids is etc...fact is aids is 100% preventable. keep needles out of your arms and dorks out of your keister and don't sleep with lots of people and you'll never get aids. unless you're the unfortunate hemopheliac who receives blood from the sexual and or drug degenerate that just donated blood to the local red cross.
p.s. for ignorant morons i lost an uncle to aids so no i don't hate gays or am not bigoted towards them etc...reality is reality. deal with it.

Correlation does not imply causation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlation_does_not_imply_causation
The Vatican lies about condoms saying they have tiny holes and do not prevent AIDS.
Fact: Condoms prevent transmission of AIDS 80% of the time, and, if used properly 100% of the time, condoms prevent AIDS transmission 90% of the time. While it is true that abstinence is the only way to prevent STD infection 100% of the time, there is no justification for the Vatican or anyone lying about condoms. Especially to married couples. Respect people by offering them the truth and allowing decisions to be made with information and facts, not religious dogma and coercion.

The Catholic Church promotes keeping your fly zipped and your legs crossed until you are in a loving, committed marriage, and open to the gift of children. Following this teaching would not only prevent AIDS and save a lot more lives than condoms do, but it would also save souls.
I think God gave us the best "advice" ever in the 7th Commandment: You shall not commit adultery. (I think He really meant that one. Don't you?)

I've never heard that accusation.
The HIV virus is smaller than the pores in latex condoms so using condoms is not a 100% prevention technique.
Every high school heath teacher knows this and its sad that our children aren't listening very much in health class.

Exactly. Those who blame the Church for it are ignoring the fact that if those people were actually following Church teaching, they would be using abstinence!

Hello,
Keep your parts in your pants and sex within the confines of marriage (as all Christian denominations teach) and you won't get or spread AIDs and HIV.
That statement sounds true to me. What is the problem then?

The simple maps you've provided do not give us adequate understanding to know the correlation. But the Catholic church is working hard in areas of southern Africa to teach their lies and exacerbate the spread of AIDS.
Shame on them.
Countries like Mexico have a lower rate because of a long tradition of less sex outside of marriage. But those who are infected with AIDS are often the less educated that proclaim how the Church has told them not to use condoms.
USAID: HIV/STI Prevention and Condoms
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has been a leader in HIV prevention and is fully committed to a balanced approach to the "ABCs" of HIV prevention - abstinence, being faithful/partner reduction, and correct and consistent condom use for those most at risk for transmitting or becoming infected with HIV. Condom use can reduce significantly the risk of HIV infection and, in conjunction with other behavior changes such as delayed sexual initiation and partner reduction, is a key component of effective HIV prevention programs.
The Effectiveness of Condoms in Preventing Sexually Transmitted Infections
Abstinence from sexual intercourse or maintaining a mutually monogamous relationship between partners known to be uninfected is the surest way to avoid transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Outside of those conditions, condoms have been an important and successful intervention in many places for sexually active people, particularly when targeted at commercial and other casual sexual encounters. While no barrier method is 100 percent effective, correct and consistent use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of transmission of HIV, some other STIs, and of unintended pregnancy.
HIV: While laboratory research has demonstrated that latex condoms provide an essentially impermeable barrier to particles comparable in size or smaller than STIs, including HIV, studies have shown that correct and consistent use is essential to realize the full benefits provided by condoms in reducing the risk of HIV infection. The body of research demonstrating the effectiveness of latex condoms in reducing sexual transmission of HIV is both comprehensive and conclusive. Scientific studies of sexually active couples, where one partner is infected with HIV and the other partner is not, have demonstrated that the consistent use of latex condoms reduces the likelihood of HIV infection by 80 to 90 percent. However, failure to use condoms correctly with every act of intercourse, or to some extent slippage and breakage of the condom, has been shown to increase the risk of HIV transmission. In fact, some studies have shown that inconsistent condom users may face the same risks of HIV infection as non-users.
