I am obese (really) I am 5' 00" exactly and I weigh 230 pounds. I gained all the weight when I got into middle school when people made fun of me for being poor, I got depressed. I can't excersize much but I can walk a long time (like 3 miles at a time), but it doesn't do much good unless I figure out a diet that can work.

Dear one I am so sorry that people have been mean to you. Some people just don't understand you can not help your family situation....

Good for you for wanting to make a postive change in your life.

Cut out anything fried, all sweets, most breads and potatoes. You Can have two servings of bread a day. That's two slices of bread. You can replace one serving of bread with one 3 oz serving of bread three times a week.

You can eat all the veggies you want. You can have four fruits per day. Apples and Bannas should be kept to three a week. Peas and Corn should be considered a bread because they are high in starches. No bacon. You can have eggs. Keep fats, like oils and margerines to 1 tablespoon per day. Have four servings of dairy per day. Skim Milk. Hard cheeses, Low fat cottage cheese Yogurt. Protein. You need Protein.... So about 2 oz at breakfast. 4 oz at lunch and 6 oz at supper. Make it lean fish, chicken beef and pork.

You can use spices all you want as long as they do not contain sugar. You can use spray oils like Pam or I Can't Believe It's Butter spray as much as you like. ICBIB makes great grilled cheese sandwiches.

Don't try to curtail your intake of food.... you have to eat to loose... if you try to starve yourself your body will shut down and stop loosing. And make it harder to loose.

8 glasses of water per day.

You are always welcome to email me privately....

My husband and I have had a lot of success on the South Beach Diet. We bought the book and all the cookbooks we could find, and have been doing it since the first week of May. My husband was obese and he has already lost 35lbs. I was slightly chubby (5'4" and 145) and I've lost 10lbs.

SBD really emphasizes a lifestyle change that will improve your cardiovascular health and help prevent the onset of Type II Diabetes -- it was designed by a leading heart doctor from University of Miami. SBD proceeds in three 'phases'.

In the first phase, you completely cut out all carbs. This lasts for two weeks and the point is to break your addiction to sugar. It was really, really tough -- but you can eat 5 times a day and portion size is not limited. With all of the recipes I had, we never felt hungry but just missed our snacks. I lost 5 of my pounds, and my husband lost 18 of his pounds in this first phase.

In the second phase, you slowly reintroduce carbs -- but only certain kinds. Specifically, just those carbs which have a low glycemic index value such as fruits, starchy vegetables, and whole grain bread/pasta/rice. This is where we are right now, and you just stay in this phase until you are happy with your weight. Some weeks we eat more carbs than others, and these weeks we don't lose as much weight -- it's all about learning how to balance and make good food choices.

Phase 3 is all about maintenance. It's way more relaxed, but that's OK because by this point you know how to adjust your eating to compensate for bad choices. The goal is just to not gain anything back.

The cool part is that you can switch back and forth between the phases. For example, we went to a baseball game on the 4th of July and they were having $1 hotdog night. We treated ourselves to some hotdogs, including the white buns. To compensate, we just ate like Phase 1 until the weekend so that we wouldn't gain any pounds back.

We've been exercising regularly this whole time as well. Usually 30 min 2-3 times a week -- I jog and my husband walks. I have really noticed a difference in my energy levels since being on this diet.

Overall, I am having a GREAT experience on this program and I recommend it to everyone I know. I find it easy to stick to, the recipes in the books are wonderful, and it really works. Right now, I feel like I have learned a new way of eating that I can easily continue with for the rest of my life.

Good luck to you, in whatever method you choose. You are making a great decision that will add years onto your life!

The thing about "diets" is that most of them are trying to get you to quit eating something entirely, and that's very unhealthy. The best way of learning to eat healthfully is understanding balance. If your body is craving a food, you're probably craving something in the food, or something emotional and pleasurable that the food brings to you. What you need to do is research portion sizes and balanced eating. The average North American eats far more than a proper portion size at every meal. You can still eat all kinds of foods you like as long as you don't eat that much of them, and face it, you do get to eat every day anyway, what's the rush? Slowing down while you eat is a big part of it too - relax and enjoy your food, and really taste it. You might find you didn't really like a lot of the unhealthy stuff anyway. The reality is that it's cheaper in the long run to eat healthy food than junk food. Really!

I've lost over 30 pounds in the last year just by slowly changing my portion size habits. It's amazing how well it works!

Whatever you do, don't push yourself too much, because that's how people gain all the weight back.

Good luck! I've included a place to start...

I would suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of impurities. Impurities come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The impurities get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the impurities by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher and Medifast. If you want to learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. This was the first time I ever did a cleanse, it was easy and I feel better. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://diet4cleansing.com

ARGH! Retards! That gets to me the way they make fun of the less fortunate people. Sorry for the out burst. Hmm...a diet won't help you lose weight but a lifestyle change will. You should cut out any extra sodas, juices, and sweets. (you will be amazed). You should stick to walking for now until you get a bit lighter to start jogging. It is a REAL talent to walk 3 miles at a time. (I would die of boredom that's why I ride my bike everywhere.) If you need someone to talk to or something you can always email or IM me. (Plus I think I have a great plan for you to get back at those middle school punks. Plz)

I have been there. It's a life style change but take your time. In order to stick with it you can't make all the changes at once.

For example, in your diet stop drinking SODA. Drink anything else tea, water or flavored water until the habit is broken. Then start using 5 pound hand weights to tone in addition to your walking.

Making small changes helps you stick with it. Once these things are habits you add to them like getting 5 veggies a day.

Good luck. You're on the right path now kick it up a notch and enjoy the results!

You'll never do it if you try a "diet" like stop eating bread or only eat grapefruit or something. You really need to figure out a different way to eat all together.

Because you are very obese, you don't want to do this without help from a doctor because if you lose too much too fast you could really mess yourself up. The best advice I can give is to see your doctor and put your mind to it.

Good luck!

There are alot of different diet plans out there, like weight watchers, jenny craig, or nutrisystem. You could try one of those. But I don't know if they are to expensive for you or not. You could try teaming up with a buddy, to try and lose weight together. Keep each other motivated. There are probably some good websites that can give you some dieting ideas. The only other thing I can think is instead of snacking on fattier foods during the day, keep your snacks healthy. This might cut out alot of your calories. Like only fresh fruit for snacks. Drink lots and lots of water. Try like ten bottles a day! It will replenish your body and make you feel fuller too! Only eat when you are hungry too. Don't eat out of boredom. And for sure walk those three miles a day. REMEMBER: it might take up to like six weeks to see results, DON'T GIVE UP! YOU CAN DO THIS! GOOD LUCK!

Eat healthily with lots of veggies, lean meat and complex carbs and exercise, you will not have problem losing some fats and weight. You can increase your metabolism rate too.

Just that, lose slowly so that the weight will not bounce back and you will ne have sagging folds of skin.

I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.

my mom stopped eating bread, and lost a lot of wiegth. but my granma went on an all salad diet and it worked. the salad diet you can put what ever you want on it, just as long as its not to much. but basiclly all you eat is salad 3 times a day. me and my sister have stared like jogging in place while watching a half an hour long show and as long as you can get your heart rate up for 45 minutes a day, you should be able to loose weight. its not if you can walk a long time, you have to fast walk to get your heart pumping.
