You're talking about England I assume.
Given that there are not any constitutional limits, and given the English system of someone who is eventually found innocent being able to recover for abuses -- yes, it's a good idea because the threat is high enough versus the harm, and there are adequate balances in the system.
The answer is different in the US, because of constitutional requirements.

First to Ducky...this is the UK & Ireland site so there are a lot of "Brit's" on here I would think.
Yes they should be able to hold them as long as necessary until they are sure they are not a threat

First I would like to say to ducky there are plenty of Brits on this site. where does he/she think the intelligent questions come from?
To answer your question, I feel the police should have as much time as they need to question suspected terrorist, These are people who want to commit murder indiscriminately.

If they are obviously real terrorists then yes, but watch, we will all be locked up for some sort of suspicion of terrorism. These idiots in charge just can't be trusted.

We should be able to detain them sine die if we suspect that national security is threatened. The USA have the right idea with Guantanamo Bay.

War law and civil law are completely different as should be treated as such it could mean the prevention and apprehension of atrocity's and culprits of mass destruction and devastation. O.K let them go after a couple of days?

Export them would be more desirable........if you're not up to anything they would suspect you in the first place and to risk the safety of millions just to keep a few happy.....sorry doesn't add up.
