An old lady walks into a Catholic Church, lights a candle in front of a Stature of Our Lady of Grace and prays.
Everyone knows that she is worhiping plaster, wood and stone, right? Everyone knows that she is so stupid as to think that that plaster will save her, right?
Everyone knows none of this is Biblical, right?

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
That old lady will get into heaven before you do. You know why? You have judged her already and Jesus told us not to judge. Did you ever think that your judgment could be wrong?
What if that lady lite the candle because Christ is the light, the true light that enlightens men.
What if she is praying before, not to, that statue to Christ mother who is now in heaven praying and helping us in our love relationship with God. The saints are not dead. The phrase"asleep" does not mean gone. God is the God of the living not the dead. If all the saints are dead asleep then how did Moses appear in the Transfiguration

How do the 24 ancients live in the Revelations? Saints live. God is the God of the living, not the dead.
That old lady will get into heaven before you because she knows something many others don't. Love of God and neighbor in the Communion of Saints!
She is not the dead one, you are. Your faith died in the reformation when the reformers invented their doctrines, never before heard in the Church and Christ himself never preached Protestantism.

THE POINT IS THAT CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP STATUES. THE POINT IS THAT FUNDAMENTALISTS ARE SO DUMB THAT THEY THINK CATHOLICS DO!

I'm 71 &have been a catholic for 7years. Many people have asked me why? My answer is simple; because I beleive that this is where God wants me. As a former Protestant, I too used to beleive thet catholics worshiped statues. NOTHING IS FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. We worship what the image represents. I once heard a Baptist Minister say that "my Christ came down off of the Cross"(refering to the Crucifix that is in all Catholic Churches. My answer to that is; so has mine. That crucifix represents what Christ did for ALL of us. So much for statue or idol worship. These words come from the mouths of the ignorant, one of which I used to be. God Bless of of you who worship the Living God, & also our brothers & sisters who don't. We are all Gods children

My mother was a Catholic to the day she went to heaven. She always had a small statue of Jesus in a small corner and would light a candle by it. She also had a picture of the Virgin next to it. Believe me, she did NOT worship the statue and/or picture. She knew exactly who she had to pray to I was raised a Catholic but I did not practice it. I totally respected my mother's belief's as well as others. When she could no longer drive and go to her church, she continued to pray and would watch her mass on tv. At the end of the day, if anyone of US believes - we all believe in God.

The statues are only a symbol, they tell a story is not meant for worship. No Catholic is told to worship statues, even though Protestants might think that. The old lady is praying to the mother of God, the statue is merely a symbol nothing else.

I've been Catholic my entire 36 yrs and I've NEVER worshipped anyone but God. I pray to Mary and some saints, only asking them for their intercession. Just like I sometimes ask a friend to pray for me and my family. Mary and saints are living souls in Heaven and can only pray to God, like we do. They can't answer any prayers. Only God can.

I AM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE SAYING THE CATHOLICS WORSHIP MARY & THE SAINTS!!! WE WORSHIP GOD ALONE. IF THIS IS WHAT YOU THINK WE DO, YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT BEING A CATHOLIC IS.

Well speaking for myself, I am Catholic. When I kneel before a statue I am not worshiping it. I know it has no divine powers but is a representation of the Saint.
The original meaning of the word "pray" is to ask or petition, not worship.

Ok ok...theologically you are correct. BUT...
as a catholic, i find the practice reverent but dumb. I don't care if Mrs, Sanchez wants to light candles and pray through Mary to God, in front of a statue...it makes no sense to me. my parents used to do that and it bothers me, is that wrong? it's like saying, "i know You said 'come unto me', but i would like to talk to these folks first and let them do my talking". I'd rather pray to the Son of the living God directly.
no disrespect.

You had me going there for a moment! I felt my blood boiling until I read the rest of your post. I wouldn't have made such judgments about the others, but I you're right about Catholics.
Here's a website that explains things, too, if people want to know the truth.

Dude, that is harsh, but you are right.

Churches that have done away with the Sacraments and the Saints look more like banks than places of worship.

No, Catholics don't worship statues. I hope that the Protestants who are taught this nonsense actually bother to look into the accusation so they can at least stop looking like ignorant fools in front of people who have actually put forth the effort to investigate this claim and get some education on it.

But many of them won't stop spreading such nonsense even if they DO know it's not true, because their purpose at the core of it is hating, just for hatred's sake and trying to lead others into that hate as well. Sad.

OK who is being judgmental? silly way to invalidate your argument by contradicting yourself.
Catholics pray to saints and to Mary and confess sins to a priest. When the Bible clearly states that Jesus is the only way.
You can't decide who gets into heaven and I thank God for that.
