You should do white wine with those:)
Yeah Chardonay is a good choice. I would go to a good winery and tell them how much you want to spend, and they can reccommend a good bottle of choice for your guests.
How much is a good bottle? It truly depends on how much you have in your budget to spend. You can honestly get a decent bottle of wine for 20-30 bucks and you may want to a a little more expensive bottle for you and hubby to toast to:)

Check out this article I found: http://wine.about.com/od/winebasic1/a/Weddingwine.htm

It has a lot of good information in that article:) I would also reccomend you tasting the wines as well. If you could get your friend or hubby if he's 21 to buy the bottle of your choice, you and him can have a "wine tasting night" where you can taste a few differents and make sure you like them.
But a decent bottle can be around 30 bucks, you can find good wine all the way up to over 100 dollars a bottle!

I enjoy strawberry dacqs! So I am going to rent a machine for 70.00 that included cups, straws, mix, I just buy the alcohol and it makes strawberry dacq, no ice needed.
I decided that I am going to just get some good bottles of wine to toast to, and I am going to buy those single-serve small bottles you can buy, have you seen those in 4 packs? Where people can drink that throughout the night. That way I won't buy a bunch of bottles of wine and everyone open all of them up and waste them. With the single serve, people just open what they need and I can put them in ice buckets, or leave some around for guests:)

Hope this helps:)

A reisling would be nice. Check out Kendall Jackson Chardonay. Its very good, and I think might go well with what your trying to do. It actually has a nice light apple flavor to it. Pluss its not very expensive. I think it goes for about $9 a bottle round here. I know when I was a bartender, we sold a TON of KJC. Another very popular wine is Yellow Tail Chiraz. You can get it for about $7 a bottle. I sold a ton of that. Another option (Ive done this before) is it is becoming more and more popular for couples to hire a "mixologist" (fancy name for a good bartender) to make a signature drink for your wedding. If it only contains maybe two liquors, it could actually be a little neater since its something different and also cheaper. Liquor goes much further than wine. But check out the two wines I mentioned and try them. I think they would be real good.

Jessica Ss suggestion is good, and you could also try asking in the wine category, someone might know of a good one. Generally speaking, a good bottle can range from $10- thousands, but spending more than $30 per bottle is not advisable as peoples tastes are probably not that refined. There are many good wines out there for $15, ask around. A good wine shop will also be able to help you.

I bought 60% white (Chardonnay) and 40% red (Shiraz) for ours. I believe with 130 people we only went through 8 cases. With Chicken and Salmon I'd go with Pinot Grigio instead though. Or vary it up and have both Chard and Reisling.

A good bottle all depends. I know there are lots of good $10 bottles and you get a case discount--deeper discount if you are buying a lot of cases. I spend a long time buying some inexpensive bottles and tasting them to make sure we got a really good one. Several we tried and hated. Several were ok.

As far as what kind of drinks I served, I had iced tea (my family is southern and my husband is yankee so we had sweet and unsweet), water, a pineapple non-alcoholic punch, and the wine. But it was June and about 95 degrees outside so I figured they needed a lot of liquid. Just don't forget if you are serving wine to have water and one non-alcoholic beverage for the non-drinkers.

Hey hon,

I'm doing the same limited bar idea at our wedding. We're buying white wine, red wine and blush wine, getting kegs of lager and light beer, and doing a signature drink. Since our wedding is a beach themed wedding, we will probably end up with a fun, fruity rum punch (umbrella beach drinks).

Good luck!

I would go with a Savigon Blanc, try and find one that isnt too tart and it will go great with fish and chicken. There ar emany affordable bottles out there and you can get some great ones through Beverages and More or if you live anywhere near winers spend a day tasting and pick the ones you and your fiancce like best.

Ceremony starts with guests receiving lemon spring water....We will be starting our reception of with white and red sangrias, and then our bar consists of various wines and different beers.

We are having Strawberry bubbly. It is my favourite. Comes from Chille I think. I will also have some Chardonnay, beer and punch.
Hopefully that will cover most tastes.
Buy your wine by the case. It saves a fair bit of money, rather than buying individual bottles

We had a full open bar. For wine at the tables we had one bottle each of white and red (for 8 people per table) -

White Wine, Red Wine and a Zinfandel which is like a Rose. Also an open bar with every kind of drink you want. Then soda for the few children who attended. Also premium bottled beer too.

I would say if you bought wholesale, you should be able to buy a good bottle of wine for about $7.50.

we had red and white. im not sure of the name since it was provided by the reception site. it was pretty good. that was served with a buffet of great food.

we had soda and water for the non alcoholic drinkers. and if people wanted more than wine they had to pay for it. i was not about to spend another $7000 on alcohol so people could get drunk on my special day!!
