Consider yourself lucky...lol I have a chihuahua that is 5 1/2 yr old that seldom barks. I never heard her bark at all until she was about 9 months old. Probably have only heard her bark maybe 25 times. She barks when she is excited.

It is usual that a dog of any breed don't bark at 3 months. My dog didn't start barking until she was about 4 or 5 months old.

Enjoy it while it lasts! My 8 y.o. chihuahua mix didn't bark for the first 3 months we had her. Now, all she ever does is bark.

Don't schedule a vet appointment just for this reason, but at your next visit, you could mention it if she still hasn't barked.

some dogs just dont bark when they r little. it took my dog a good two weeks after we got him to bark. he was about 2 and a half months old. and some dogs dont bark til they r a year old. it depends on the dog. i wouldnt be concerned if i were u. she will probably bark when u r playing with her someday and totally suprise u. all i had to do was come down stairs and he hasnt shut up since.

She will don't worry. She just hasn't realized yet that she has a voice. So be happy and expect her to start barking at around 5 or 6 months. ( Though that could be different with your puppy.)

Not barking is not a bad thing but it indicates to me that you are not socializing this dog. Is it meeting new people and other dogs, experiencing different places, etc.? If you socialize the dog it will start to bark and then you will have to enroll in a good obedience class so you can learn how to teach the dog the "quiet" command.

It is not normal, but not uncommon either. I wouldn't worry about it and consider yourself lucky.

In training use hand signals along with verbal commands and teach her other ways to communicate to you other than barking.
