Depression is a pernicious disease. It comes in on little cat feet and suddenly turns into this tiger that can shred your life. I am not saying that what you describe is definitely depression but at face value it appears to be. Please don't ignore these symptoms. Talk to your doctor and be honest about your feelings. Ruling out any other organic reason for this, the treatment for depression is relatively simple with today's medications. You can read about what depression did to me by going to Yahoo search under "The Last Temptation of George Petrie"

It definitely sounds like a biochemical thing. Please see a medical doctor right away and don't leave until you have a diagnosis and a treatment plan or a referral to a specialist.
I know what you are going through. It really sucks when you don't feel like you know who you are and can't predict which one of "you" will show up, and when scary or weird thoughts seem to be running your moods and life.
I don't want you to suffer any more! Focus on getting all the help you need to feel like your normal self again. You deserve that. You have to have that!
I think having any sort of problem that isn't visible to others and that you can't explain (how can you when you don't even know what's happening?) is so hard. A broken arm is something visible--and it's not personal or about you when that happens. What you're going through has you doubt yourself as a person. Try to think of it being like a broken arm. Get treated and keep reminding yourself that any weird thoughts or feelings are just like the aching or itching of a broken arm--you have to put up with them, but they don't mean anything.
Do anything you can to alter any of the dysfunctional patterns you fall into. Like stop listening to that voice in your head or tell it to shut up. Like taking a brisk walk or exercising. Or create some artwork. (I like making collages out of magazine pix.) Just don't try to figure it out. Let whatever treatment you get do the work. Be patient, as it will take time, and it often takes several tries before you find the medication that is right for you.
Hang in there! It IS worth it. YOU are worth it. Take care.

seek professional help. talk to your doctor and get a referral to see a councilor or other mental health therapist.
depression can happen to anyone at any time and for no apparent reason. starvation and pulling away from people sounds like an anti-social behavior that can be one of the symptoms of depression or other mental disorders.
i have ptsd and a type of social aversion where i can be around other people but would rather not be. if i can't leave a place and get away from people in my own time then i get frustrated, angry and anxious.
don't be ashamed or let others make you feel ashamed. everyone goes through some type of mental thing at some point in there lives. the faster you get help the faster you begin to heal.
if this is a weight issue and your having problems with self image, that too can cause depression.
i wish you the best.

I would schedule an appointment with a psychologist or a psychiatrist for an evaluation. Once your symptoms are better identified, a treatment plan can be devised to help you eliminate your problem. This might include an MMPI-2 personality inventory, talk therapy and possibly medication. I urge you to make an appointment soon so you can begin to resume a normal life.

This will pass...it is your hormones rageing...most females go thru it at some time or other..when you do start to feel this way, get something happy in front of your face...what you give your attention to grows...find several happy things to fill the holes and you will see how it changes when you change your thinking..also vitamin B-100 complex helps this also...it takes about a week to get into the system....but it will make you feel alot better and give you energy...

Please see a psychiatrist, your depressed or so says the fat old retired guy. I went through almost the same feelings in 2000 and thankfully I got in to see a psychiatrist. Later she put me in group therapy with some other nuts and we're all climbing out of our holes together. Nothing to be ashamed of, it's just another illness.
